Has anyone figured out how to do this yet? Seems like the most needed interior mod for driver sanity.
I suspect that's wishful thinking on someone's behalf. If they're busy getting software fixes out for stuff that should work, but doesn't, it'll be a couple of years before they get round to "enhancements".I would like to be able to do that too as I'm not a fan of haptic controls on steering wheels.
Although unsubstantiated, I heard that this configuration option might be coming in a future software update. I certainly hope it does.
Well, for certain it's distinguishable st the signal level. The potential issue is that the capacitive touch solution chip is likely right under the touch controls or somewhere nearby. That same capacitive touch chip may have inputs for physical keys, or the physical key chips are separate but also nearby. There is then a microcontroller of some sort that is programmed to send the touch/key signals to the main computer. This touch/physical key module may not have a firmware that's upgradeable after the fact. One can only hope it's distinguishable signals from the pad and not baked into the hardware. Coming from a software development background this shouldn't be a big problem at all, even for extended automotive quality control (lol).
Literally the first time I've heard that they are not touch sensitive.can we put this thread to bed as the steering wheel controls are defo NOT touch sensitive.
I just went in the garage to sit in my car and check.
They are buttons in the sense they need to be pressed to a click.
They are both, clickable and swipable without pressing.Literally the first time I've heard that they are not touch sensitive.
Now I'm confused.
Yours would be the only ones, if that was the case. It's literally been one of the top negative points in reviews because of people brushing their hands across the controls and it instantly selecting multiple points of input. People have described turning the wheel hand-over-hand in a tight roundabout or switchback, and brushing the touch controls with their palm causing the stereo to change tracks or start/stop, sometimes at high volume.can we put this thread to bed as the steering wheel controls are defo NOT touch sensitive.

I just downloaded the manual to check. All references to swiping are related to the centre dimple or the ‘O’. I’ll have a mess with it in the morning when it’s running 1800+ miles in and not noticed a problem with themYours would be the only ones, if that was the case.
