I took my car in for its first service at Hendy Southampton yesterday, my windscreen has a stress fracture in the inner laminate in the centre at the top of the screen passing down and around the sensor hole. The service guy said I had just missed another owner come in with the same problem (also exact nimbus specs), what are the chances of that ? Anyone else have the same issue?

Interesting.. I recall another owner posting about something very similar a month or so ago.. Wonder if this is a design flaw.

Does yours look like this?

Yep exactly the same position, that's three I'm aware of now, from my understanding both the Southampton reports from Friday are being referred back to Lotus for warranty authorisation to replace the screen, lets wait an see what comes back

I will get a photo of mine and upload it tomorrow

Glad we're getting these documented. Sourcing windshields for Lotus vehicles have been known to take quite a long time, so hopefully this doesn't turn into a recall. I'll merge reports into a single thread if we have any more similar incidents posted here.

Hello, me too have this problem. Started with a small crack around the rainsensor. Saturday i drove to WEC in Spa Francorchamps and came back the same day. Parked the car at home, nothing had changed. When i wanted to drive on monday i was surprised to see that the crack was to the bottom. No impact and you can feel the inner layer of glass is broken. Definitely a stress fracture.
Europeanen after sales manager never heard about this problem...... maybe he is deaf and blind.

This is a common problem and will be replaced under warranty, my car was April 2023 build, another car exact same spec was in minutes before me with the same problem. I understand its a factory installation issue

I’m on my 3rd replacement been waiting for delivery since March to the dealership
They said that there is a new windscreen design
Something to do with the metal mirror mounting bracket being dead fixed.
The heat or cold causes the bracket to expand or contract causing a stress fracture in the interior side of the glass.
The new windshield has a mounting bracket in two half’s rather than one
Cheers

I was told by a dealer to make sure I had windscreen cover with my insurance as a new Emira windscreen is over £4,000 when fitted.

I've heard of this before on the Emira. It's not uncommon for cars that get used regularly and exposed to the elements. If it happens outside of warranty will we have to pay the bill, and also pay for the new mirror mount to prevent a reoccurrence? Like the paint bubbling it might actually be a blessing that it happens during the warranty period.

Interesting.... I was led to believe the windscreen itself was over £3000. Seems like the dealers often aren't exactly factual.

Nothing would surprise me….

The screenshot below supports what Lotus Bradford quoted (sorry not sure how to link to the post on my phone!):
