My first Lotus and I'm thinking of doing 1K oil change to show her some love.

How much are you expecting to shell out for an oil change? My local Lotus dealer just added Lotus to their Aston Martin dealership so I can just imagine what they're gonna try to charge me.

What's reasonable? If they're crazy out of line I may look for a local Lotus repair shop.

Oil change process for my Audi S7 is similar: remove weird undertray (3 different fastener types), remove cartridge type oil filter, drain oil and refill with 9 quarts (!) full synthetic. My German (Porsche, Audi, BMW) auto specialist charges $200. The Audi dealer charges $400. If you want to do it yourself the oil and filter cost around $80.

My local dealer charges $250 for an oil change for the Emira. When I had my Evora, I’ve got quotes around 250-300 around my area from the dealer so I decided to just in my driveway as it’s not too difficult.

I did my 1000 mile change today. They quoted me $450, but it ended up being 480 plus 3% to process my credit card....

Was not impressed or pleased, but considering my Audi was ~200 I guess I'm not all that surprised.

If you go the dealer route - tell them not to change the battery in your key fob (that was an extra ~$4 for a battery that is a month old - and no it was not requested or on the estimate)

Who is your local dealer?

I typically avoid dealer work as much as possible. How difficult is it to do my own oil change? Anyone have any resources out there/DIY guides?

Do you mean 9 quarts for your Audi and not for the Emira?

Emira should be just over 6qts according to the manual.

I was quoted $1149, for an oil change. $300 hr. which is Ferrari labor but we have a Toyota engine. If we do the oil changes ourselves would it void warranty.
Changing your own oil does not void warranty. But keep a clear record with receipts for the parts, notate it in the service booklet, and take at least one photo each time.

People have done Emira oil/filter changes, but so far no one has done a DIY YouTube or Forum video showing it done. To date, this looks to be the go-to Forum thread for changing the oil on an Emira and I suspect it'll do the trick:

Good luck!

This. I take pics of my parts receipts with date and mileage on odometer, one of new oil filter in housing, one of the oil plug out of the vehicle as well. Then link those photos to my spreadsheet that denotes date and service done.

It is illegal for them to void your warranty solely based on if they dont do the service themselves. However if you mess something up related to what you were working on they can deny to fix anything related to what they claim to have been caused by DIY. Example: you forgot put oil in, drain plug wasnt tight and oil drained out etc etc.

$1149 is robbery. I'd take them quotes from other Lotus dealers rate. doubt its 3 hrs labor for them as well on a Lotus.

Yes, I was pointing out if I only pay $200 in Minneapolis for even MORE oil and a similar process, Emira should be about the same.

So I did some thinking. I think oil and parts mentioned here came to be ~$200. So essentially they charged $300 for labor (and it apparently took 2 people). Still feels really high to me, but maybe I'm just used to Audi prices (and not having an Aston and Rolls dealer attached to the dealer for my car)

OIl (6 quarts) and filter cartridge kit for Emira should be under $100

Buy the tools to do it yourself… it feels great working on your own car and hey, you can do your Audi as well.

Lotus of Atlanta wants $450 for an oil change. I did the last one in my garage and it was simple.
This is what happens when our Lotus dealer is inside the Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, and Aston dealer 😅

But at the same time... we are in the Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, and Aston dealer and it's only $400. $1149 is insane
