My Specs:
Emira I4
Yes, I am new.
No, I am not affiliated with Beep Away.

As I consider buying a 2026 (with the nanny features), the one feature that will stop me from buying the car is the speed limit sign sensor beeping.
Yes, you can disable it at every start by wading 3 to 4 layers deep in the touchscreen...But...
Having had a stroke a few years ago, I cannot type with my right hand (shaky fingers) nor accurately hit touchscreen buttons.
So, while reading about this feature, I stumbled across a company online called Beep Away that provides codes to flash onto a USB drive that, they say, turns off the sound until you unplug the USB.

Note: I am not posting the link because I am new here and unsure of the rules.

Has anyone heard of / used this product?

I contacted the Boston area Lotus Dealership (AM/Lotus of Boston) and was quoted .... 3 hours of work, at ~$325/hr plus taxes, etc... to flash the software to remove the EU nannies.

This is my first interaction with the service department since my great purchase experience buying the car from them. The service rep was very polite.... but I explained that 3 hours seemed excessive. I fortunately have a great shop that can work on the car otherwise (and who has worked on all my "fun" cars prior) but they can't do the flash for obvious reasons.

It's not even the $1,000 cost that really bothered me (as a former owner of Aston Martins and Lotus, I'm well aware of the costs to maintain these cars), it's the realization that this dealership's service department is either incompetent or very greedy - both are red flags.

Has anyone had this work done at a more reasonable dealership in the Northeast? I don't mind a roadtrip.

It's not even the $1,000 cost that really bothered me, it's the principle of absolutely and blatantly ripping off your prospective customer that really annoyed ne.

That is absolutely ridiculous imho!! I completely agree with your sentiment. Most of us probably understand and realize for an “optional” service request to be done at a dealership by a tech, whether it’s 30 minutes or 1 hour to complete will cost a few bucks, not many people or places work for free, I get that. However, at $1,000, that is a blatant sort of slap in the face. For comparison, my dealer down here in Atlanta will charge me $230 for that to be done. I made the inquiry the other day just to see. I’ll probably have it done at my next oil change.

It would still be cheaper for me to road trip to Atlanta, stay overnight at a nice hôtel, and get the service done there... Too funny.

I'll stick with taking a few seconds every drive to push 5 buttons, since I already have to flick the drive mode each time to sport anyway ;)

The shop can’t charge more than the book time for the service in the book.

I thought I read earlier that the book time was 0.5 hours. Anyone have an actual link to the official service bulletin?

If that turns out to be true then you have grounds to file a complaint with Lotus directly.

After 3300 miles in my car, I’ve found most of the ADAS features are non intrusive. The traffic sign/speed recognition is the only one for me that’s a pain. And if you haven’t figured it out yet, just hitting the quick menu and then turning off that specific feature(audible warning only) you’re done. Literally 2 seconds to silence. Nothing else too intrusive but I’ll still probably have it done to get rid of the Fatigue Alert and other things I don’t really need. Would be a nice drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway etc this time of year! It’s beautiful right now!👍🏻😁

I get that the Dealer wants to charge, but if you purchased the car from the Dealer, they should be able to take care of it or at least charge the reasonable rate of 1/2 hr. I'm guessing Lotus doesn't have a standard charge time for this yet, so the Dealers are making stuff up.
