Air con known issue -no fix yet [EDIT: now with official fix]

Make sure you get a silicon sheet of the correct size (length and width). I could not find one big enough on Amazon and ended up searching eBay. It arrived last Friday and I'm not been able to fit it. I think mine was 1.5mm thick.

Was it an eBay shop? In other words do they have more and do you have a link?
 
What thickness silicone sheet did you get. Amazon seem to have a number of options from 1mm to 4mm.
Ok, heres my setup. From Amazon: 1/8” sheet 3X10Ft.
Now, install findings:
This sheet was no more resistant to tears than OEM.
Original was 1/16 in thick; mine usable/sturdier.
Original design/shape utterly ridiculous; top way too long,
sides shape/length wrong/too short- easily improved.
I fitted my sheet with multiple installs to give proper trimming
for best coverage and smoothest placement without folds/dips.
Essentially shortened nearly 1ft. of sheet that goes under cowl, notched center of top to fit around latching mechanism/angled strut support to cowl in order to insert as far as possible under cowl/windshield base.
Sides were shaped to cover as much as possible out to inner body structure. This required cutting 2nd peice, since sides needed to be wider.
Also, placed, securely, foam block approx 6”x4”x~4” high “spacer” on top of rear sloping plastic air duct housing extending from filter back under cowling to elevate/support sheet and remove dip, allowing smooth downward slope of sheet to front.
All this resulted in smooth, properly sloping sheet directing water to front/sides.
Then using Gorilla black tape (no residue after removal, good adhesion) taped around sheet encircling housing for filter.
Also, taped plastic portion of cowl where gaps existed between it and ABS wing covers, and inserted foam plugs around openings for washer hose/wire, and gaps in center metal support structure.
Final note: plastic filter cover has dain tubes, made sure when inserting that tubes came forward ending in front of metal body cross brace. If left to drain behind brace, the left hose will drain directly into resistor pack area.
Lot of fitting/refitting, thoughts on water flow/channeling. Not sure what else to do with this “diaper”” water diverting sheet approach suggested by factory; I believe changes are an improvement.
