420 Sport exterior parts / louvred rear tailgate on a First Edition?

Just received my 420 Sport front lower splitter. It's 3 pieces - all are ABS plastic and two are this off-white colour. Definitely needs painting and prep. Not sure if it needs mounting hardware yet.. I'm going to guess it will need hardware of some sort. The centre piece looks like it might slip over the existing bumper. The two side parts look and feel pretty well made.

Looks good. Do you have to install the center piece? Will it look odd without it?
Keep us posted on your progress. I am interested in adding this to my car.

Recommended. This is the change to the 420 part

I had a few minutes in between calls and I went and offered up the parts to my Emira. Upon initial observation, it seems the parts will bolt right up to the underside of the bumper. The existing black centre piece looks like it will come off and the new one should fit in place. The side splitters have mounting holes that appear to line up with existing screws and/or holes already pre-drilled under the bumper cover. We may need longer screws, some washers and potentially some riv-nuts for some of the pre-drilled holes... but doesn't look difficult. I also have two metal donuts mounted to the underside that I guess are splitter savers on my stock bumper. Those would have to likely come off. Anyways, I'll look to get the parts painted and installed in November or December.

This is good info. thanks. Hopefully i can get the parts over the winter and make this a winter project

Hopefully you can confirm this soon when you install. What's interesting is that we know this adds a material amount of downforce but appears to use the existing mounting positions.

Jubu on the other hand, requires entirely new mounting support brackets that house the side radiators and requires a lot of dismantling because they claim using existing mounting doesn't support the amount of downforce it experiences at speed. Who knows, maybe they just totally over engineered it?

Fingers crossed the Lotus 420 Sport OE upgrade ends up being a bolt on item.

Are there any changes to the structural support to this that we are not seeing?
If the structure was unsuitable for the increased down force, one would hope that the Lotus engineer took this into account. It is hard to think they omitted the structural analysis from their design.

~900 Canadian pesos for the polymer version if ordered through a Canadian dealership (no extra fees/with taxes).

If you are going for looks then buy anything.
But if you are tracking or driving over 120mph
then go with JUBU.
Theirs is not over engineered, it’s what it should be.
I had a real race splitter bring my whole front end pulled down on my challenger.

Is that through Gentry Lane? I thought about ordering this way but the low prices at Bell and Colvill were too tempting and I ordered the louvered tailgate as well. Yet to get any shipping costs or eta on delivery. Last I heard parts on back order 6 to 8 weeks.

Quebec City. BO as well. Price should be identical regardless of where you purchase it.

Well, the 420 Sport part is supposed to add material downforce (can't remember the amount), meaning it is completely functional and purpose built. Hence, my observation. If it truly is a bolt on, it would imply the Jubu part was overkill at some level.

With that said, we actually don't know because no one has dissected/dismantled an actual 420 Sport to see if there are additional brackets or metal plate reinforcements. Time will tell as soon as the first person installs the part.

Lastly, no one is knocking the Jubu part. It's definitely an impressive piece but a lot of work. if the new 420 part is really just a bolt on with a material increase in down force, it's a huge win for us.

I’m sure the 420 front bumper treatment increases downforce, but I doubt it’s a significant increase (as in 10s of kg, rather than 100s of kg). The JUBU front splitter does I’m sure create significant front downforce and hence they feel they need additional structural support to avoid any potential issues (which they would be somewhat liable for if anything failed and caused an accident).
