18 inch track wheels and tires

Looking at BSPK & John quoted me a price on 18 inch magnesium wheels. Don't know how much more weight savings it will be yet.
Deciding whether it's worth the extra money to go magnesium, but it's almost triple the price! 😰 What am I to do???
I really want to run slicks for the track.

Mg would be very tasty! I'd love to own a set one day, but the price delta has me second guessing all the time.

Nice! But what I like about the wheel choices I made is that, even though the 18 inch wheel is smaller, these designs have the spokes reaching more towards the center, thus giving the wheel an overall look of being larger, which to me is more aesthetically more pleasing.
Will you allow custom made designs or have other wheel choices, as well as, colors like bronze?

Yes, any design you like. I also have a gallery of designs you can choose from. Some may incur an increase in cost due to design. I will DM you the file.

jp129 has not tested his ABS system to see if it works properly yet because his tires are now 1 inch smaller in overall diameter than the stock tire size.
This can affect the ABS system. Are the overall diameter of the tires on your car more than a 1/2 inch difference than stock? Have you smashed the brakes to evaluate if your ABS system been compromised?

So in theory, it's the front to rear tire OD stagger that's likely going to trip out the ABS algo.

So if you keep it within some tolerance or margin to factory stagger, it should be ok. My choice in tire sizes come close and should be within the tolerance, but we'll ultimately see.

We have to believe the algo need to have tolerance for wear and variance.

Also, the tire sizes I elected for the 18s have an OD of 25" compared to ~27" factory. That's a 2" reduction in OD.

Wow, your car must rev up alot quicker! I bet you can't stop smiling 😁

Mag wheels likely aren’t going to translate to any real track time improvements, they’re going to cost a lot, and be expensive to replace when you do bend or break one. I don’t really see the point personally when compared to 18ā€ 6061 t6.

Agreed on keeping the difference between front and rear small. Within a couple percent of each other has never been a problem on any ABS or even any stability control system I’ve driven on. I doubt the Emira systems are any different.
