Deposit down for an early FE V6 manual, sports suspension / Goodyear tyres.
Reviews seem caveated positive to positive….but lots of keyboard warrior vs Cayman GTXX stuff.
Where are people landing having read what’s out there?
For me, still seems like a slice of exotic for carrot cake (relative) money….perhaps not perfect, but mini supercar looks and very good dynamics.
Still a believer, but it’s the first new car I have bought and don’t want to get burnt.
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your order!
Here's my take on it. First, although it looks like a supercar, it isn't. A super car has super looks, super power, and it's super expensive. The Emira has the looks, but not the power or the cost.
Something else super cars have is a super suspension and handling, and in that regard, the Emira punches above its weight. Double wishbone suspension, huge brakes, hydraulic steering, plenty of power with super handling for the street, and conveniences for daily use or travel. For what it's designed for, a stunning looking sports car for the street that starts at £59,995, it's a lot of car for the money.
Super cars are expensive to maintain. The Emira, with a Toyota powertrain is going to be a whole lot better in that regard, along with the reliability of a Toyota.
For those who want a manual, it has that too, which for me is a HUGE plus.
It's going to look exotic, with an exotic marque, and be different in a sea of commonality. I've seen C8's, there are a few running around town, and while they look pretty good from the front, from the side and especially the back, ugh. German cars are a dime a dozen around here, they're so common they're almost invisible. Nothing is going to look like an Emira.
As a great, exotic looking mid-engine sports car with power and handling that's more than enough for the street, there's just nothing else out there at that price point that can compete with it. It's a Lotus so there are some compromises; there aren't dealers in every town, but if you're willing to put up with some of those kinds of things that go along with owning a rare sports car, you're going to be in a very special car.
