I tried searching the forum for this but couldn’t find an answer. When I first tried the Emira, track mode would give me pops and bangs, which is something that made me fall in love with the car. Now that I reached 1600km, I only slightly tried track mode for 1 minute, and sport mode for 5 minutes. None of them gave me pops and bangs. Is it normal? I have the warning light on the dashboard, don’t known if that might have something to do with it. Thanks!

The warning light stops the pop and bangs. When I was getting the warning light from the new downpipe the pop and bangs stopped. I fitted 'eBay special' O2 sensor spacers, and now I don't get any codes and the pops and bangs are back.

So whatever the issue is that makes that warning light on, that would stop the pops and bangs? Do you know the reason why?

I am guessing that everyone is thinking the engine warning light is putting your car in reduced power mode to protect itself - hence you are not getting the pops and bangs.

In that case I’d expect the owner’s manual to mention a power limit, but it just says something about avoiding driving and taking the car to a shop as soon as possible if I’m not mistaken. Interesting. Also, shouldn’t the car explicitly warn you in case of a power limit? Thanks for your feedback guys.

Mine pops and bangs consistently in track and milder in sport mode, as the others said your warning light may be making the Emira limit itself until it's sorted out. Hope you get them back once you fix it.

What code were you getting with the downpipe? I went with a 200cell down pipe with fabspeed “minicat” and I’m getting a cel from time to time.

I get something similar but different. I4 with sports car and Ti exhaust. No CEL, also no codes when I check with my basic OBD reader, but when I clear codes, even though none are listed, LC works again. I might also be missing my pops and bangs, not sure. Anyways, I’m guessing there are minor codes that limit some stuff, without limiting power.

Mine was basically the opposite. PO420 'Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1'.
Thanks, this is useful info.

Since you added the spacer, no more codes? You were also getting a dash CEL? Added spacers on how many of the cat sensors?

My situation is a bit different. I don’t get a CEL and I can’t read any codes either, but after I clear codes, LC works again. Maybe my generic OBD reader can’t read all codes.

Hey, no worries.

I did have the P2270 (lean code) come up after I completely messed up a gear change, but that disappeared when the car was restarted, and that was just a one off. So far the spacer has done it job, and I haven't had to mess around with the spacer thickness. I only use one spacer on the 2nd sensor, as the ECU is reading the difference between the 1st and 2nd.

It's worth trying the spacer, as it's only a 2min easy fit.

I plugged in a cheap obdii reader which returned P13C2 and P246B codes (by the Airbag ECU??) and when done the CEL went off without having cleared them. Started the car again and the CEL was back on. Gave the car a short ride in sport and there were VERY subtle pops when shifting down, very hard to hear, like something was muffling them. I guess I’ll find out when I’m back home. Some weeks ago the dealer said I had a faulty valve sensor from one of the first batches so they’d need to order and replace “almost the whole exhaust”.
