VF Tuner for the Lotus Emira

Everyone chill. Yeah v6 auto. As soon as it’s installed I put it on map0 because I heard there might be an update for the auto. After 30 mins the car goes into limp mode every 10 seconds with code p0106. It’s common, I’ve heard on here, that you might need to reconnect if it’s not plugged in correctly. After a few reconnects same problem. Likely hardware issue since it’s happening on map0. This was also with obd connected

So if you get JB4 don’t install the obd until you know there’s no issue

I didn’t think about my comment that much or thought it was a big deal. I think we all want our RPM back and will eventually switch to VF. I think it was just a waste of time to find out later that v6 auto wasn’t tested and that it might be different and only to find out there might have been a hardware issue after installing the obd and mount. But even with all that said the product did say BETA so it is what it is we all knew the risks.

I think since you have a v6 auto it would have been important to know. That is a very rare combo. Not sure why that would matter to be honest. I do not believe there are many tuning differences of the engine depending on transmission

Good luck with the lemon law fight. The PS pump issue was pretty common on early Emira builds. Lotus is pretty strict about mods and can easily tell when the ECU has been flashed.

We haven't even been able to do anything to our emira. It isn't flashed or touched. Has like 300 miles on it.
We only got 2 days of issue free driving on the damn thing

Our emira is going back to dealer, and possibly losing it to lemon law due to ongoing issues.

We are sorry guys, our development is at a snail crawl right now due to this.
Why not just offer a free tune to a client car, sure there would be people happy to loan you guys a car to get this sorted if they end up with a free tune.

That way you actually make progress

I think my biggest interest is how well it maintains all the protections. It's my understanding the JB4 allows this to be the same as AMG designed it and unmolested

You cannot compare AMG whatsoever to the V6.
I'm quite sure Mercedes Calibration budget (the money they put towards making their tunes) is probably bigger than Lotuses entire net worth. The JB4 likely works flawlessly with probably ANY AMG car, because their calibrations are designed for "every scenario that could exist" Even ones that actually CANT exist lol.

Mercedes Calibrations are by far some of the best in the world.

Lotus did what they could with their budget but you really cannot compared the V6 calibration to the AMG one whatsoever. It's like comparing a Ferrari to a ...lotus. Ferrari wins on everything.

And again, please everyone do not take this as saying negatively on lotus. I'm just speaking from the SOFTWARE side.

We have an ECU here in house we have gained access to through some seriously deep reverse engineering, I'll show you pictures soon.

Just traded my 488 gtb for an emira, and I know you were referring strictly to software, but the emira’s steering (by a mile) and suspension (roll, damping, springs; just body control writ large) is dramatically better than the 488. And that was with novitec springs w helpers installed, and forged wheels.

I'm not sure why you attributing me comparing the two. I was not
Sorry I did because I saw you have an AMG, which has every protection possible and then some.

So it's really engine dependent

Yes my point was when you had eventually come out with the i-4 version how it would be a comparison in terms of protection was my inquiry

Do you believe that the IPS auto in the V6 can be TCU tuned so that it somewhat competes with the AMG DCT? With the new pricing, I am considering picking up in stock models and considering AMG over my initial V6 Auto order.

In essence, a torque converter is like a smooth, comfortable automatic, while a DCT is a faster, more engaging automatic that prioritizes performance
