So a while back the subject of warranties was brought up and Lotus taking their eye off the ball and not really pushing an aftermarket warranty and I said we would look at it. Well we are going to be launching an extended warranty offer in the coming weeks and basically wanted to open this thread to gather questions and feedback.

The warranty is an exclusive product designed for me by our underwriters and is very comprehensive. We have worked with the same underwriters in our retail business for years. It will be available in 12 or 24 month options and is transferable to a new owner (if sold privately) I anticipate the cost will be £800 per year. The terms and coverage are definitely better than the provider that Lotus were using for the legacy cars towards the end of production.

So of you have questions or input we are still at a stage where the product can be tweaked and changed. The claim limit is £5000 and main dealer Labour rates up to £150 are included. There is also breakdown cover available.

Paint will NOT be covered sorry nothing we can do about that. Lotus should be doing more than 3 years on this!

Great news Jon
Still have 2yrs of Lotus Warranty, but will definitely be knocking on your door come 2027

Thanks for this.

£800 sounds like a good deal. I'd have to take a look at the contract and detailed list of exclusions before I decide.

They really don't have a leg to stand on with the 3 yrs when they advertised 5 yrs on the website for nearly 3 yrs. Inherent fault that they have acknowledged also doesn't help them.

A member recently stated Lotus were soon launching an extended warranty, CS informed him, for owners.

I still have 10 months left on my new car warranty but my Dealer/Service agent has just advised that "plans to launch an extended warranty program have been put on hold" by Lotus...... Not only is their eye off the ball it now appears to have been kicked into touch (at least) for a while....

Always nice to have options, especially with all the uncertainty around the future of Lotus.

A few questions from me:

1. What's the approx excess on any claim?
2. Where would the work be carried out?
3. Can servicing still be done by Lotus?
4. What would the policy be on aftermarket performance mods like exhausts and ECU?
