I don't have any areas like that, my PPF is seamless, it's hard to even tell if it's been PPF'd until you actually touch it and feel the difference between the paint and the PPF film. Are there relief cuts normal and inevitable? My car is getting PPF and I dropped by to take a look at how it's going. This was behind the rear engine glass. Normal?View attachment 68960
checked mine, it's the same. the xpel is laser cut to the car model, so I guess it's the same for anyone that has that model/brand of ppfAre there relief cuts normal and inevitable? Did you get yours bulk installed or xpel precut?I don't have any areas like that, my PPF is seamless, it's hard to even tell if it's been PPF'd until you actually touch it and feel the difference between the paint and the PPF film.

The product is color PPF 3M Gloss British Racing Green. Color PPF differs from normal vinyl wraps in that it's ~8mm thick instead of ~3mm, giving the PPF protection properties, and can have color depth like normal paint. The warranty for it is typically 7-10 years instead of vinyl's typical 3 years, though that probably doesn't include maintaining the install. It's a somewhat up and coming product since many brands have released color PPF variants in the last 2 years.
For me, it cost about $7000 for the film and install but likely should've cost more since 3M film is more expensive than others yet doesn't have that much better quality. Also, my shop had a tough time working with 3M film. Here are some good alternatives I was also considering from other brands; something to note is that I think blue hue comes out a bit more in photos than how the color looks in actuality.
Some good paint colors for referencing is Porsche Jet Green Metallic, Racing Green Metallic, and Oak Green Metallic Neo.
- Ceramic Pro Shift: royal green pearl
- Miracle Coat: Emerald (Korean OEM supplier)
- Inozetek Dynamic: Metallic Emerald Green
- Nanolink PPF: Metallic Emerald Prismatic
- Pure PPF: Turkish Green (more teal/blue than the others?)
- Peak PPF: British Racing Green
- UPPF: Magic Gold & Green (jet green with oak green undertones), Emerald Green
Here is what the PPF kit looks like. The rear bumper is 2 pieces. They have to be seamed together. Mirrors are 1 piece that gets curled around to seam together. This kit is actually missing pieces. Front trim pieces and a couple mirror trim pieces. For those that did full body PPF. Do you mind sharing pictures of these areas? I’m curious to see how other installers are approaching them

Interesting. Take close up pics of the edges.. I'm really curious what this new spray on stuff looks like.I am picking mine up tomorrow. It is a full car Spray on PPF Ngenco. It is supposed to have no edges as it gets painted on like clear coat and can be sanded and polished like real paint. They had orange peel issues on my car(not sure Lotus related or something to do with the spray process) so they had to wet sand & buff the whole car to fix it. I'll report the results tomorrow when I pick it up.
