Paint blistering on replacement doors

My emira had blistering on both doors, and lotus took it in to fix it under warranty back in November.

Now, the replacement doors are showing way worse blistering than the original doors. And I’m currently waiting advice from lotus on how to proceed.

So, in short, I’m wondering if the issue is actually fixed. They are claiming in the shop they never seen doors blister again after they have been fixed.

Have anybody here had their blistering doors fixed, only for the blistering to return on the new doors

So Lotus have given up on the original supplier...... Interesting and hopefully the new manufacturer can get it right

That is very good news if they have a new supplier, but you have to ask why on earth Lotus allowed this shambles to go on for over 3 1/2 years of production. That is 3 1/2 years of alienating their customers and trashing the brand's reputation, which Lotus really can't afford to do given their plunging sales figures.

That is very good news if they have a new supplier, but you have to ask why on earth Lotus allowed this shambles to go on for over 3 1/2 years of production. That is 3 1/2 years of alienating their customers and trashing the brand's reputation, which Lotus really can't afford to do given their plunging sales figures.

I would wait for a concrete confirmation that Lotus have been allowed to change supplier from Teijin first before getting your hopes up.

It would be interesting to learn how many owners have had doors/panels replaced once or more times, and what the cost of this has been! As mentioned in recent posts, I have had both doors replaced and now have issues with the drivers door. I have read some stories that Lotus are now repainting rather than replacing doors, but at this point, I am awaiting a decision on how it will be dealt with! As other have said such a shame as the Emira is a fundamentally a brilliant car!

From speaking to some body shops - about 1/3 of replaced panels have had the problem re-occur. About the same rate as 1/3 of owners having the issue in the first place. Lotus did indeed request for a while that panels be repaired/repainted but body shops pushed back on this as they knew from experience that this did not work and they would have unhappy owners coming back to them soon - so Lotus no longer request this.
