O2 Sensor Bank 2

I got hit but on bank 1 after a car wash… absurd. Ordered two of the replacement Bosch sensors from Greg. Anyone know how I should try to access the Bank 1 primary o2 sensor? From the top? From the bottom?

Also on top of how to access,

Answering my own questions here incase it helps anyone. Bank 1 is cylinders 1, 3 and 5 and those are on the trunk side of the engine not the cabin side. The o2 sensor is accessible via the bootbox removal access panel.

As a follow up to prove to myself it's the sensor and not the wiring or worse ecu, I swapped the bank 1 and bank 2 sensors, sure enough the live data swapped and P223D came up instead of P223C. Ordered a couple primary sensors from Greg which should be better sealed from these terrible OEM sensors.

I saw some other posts where towels were placed between glass and lid when washing. Guess I'll be doing that now on. Between this and the water membrane issues in the front, I cant say I'm happy with Lotus Engineering when it comes to water routing.

Does anyone have the part number for the Bosch replacement O2 downstream sensor? This is the one listed on the Hilton & Moss site.

The OEM one listed on GRP page is a Lynk & Co one, same as used ones found on eBay. The plastic connector is a cheap Chinese brand that can be bought for next to nothing, the Lynk & Co sensor can be bought for about £100 + delivery from Europe. Has anyone tried a universal sensor and swapped the plastic connector over?

The ones @GRP linked earlier in this thread are the good quality units you want. He used them on his own Emira to deal with the same problem.

Downstream not in stock and they are the Lynk & Co from the markings in the pic. Bosch ones are upstream and produced under licence for Aurobay, part of the Geely group now but were a part of Volvo, also owned by Geely.

Dealers want £216 Inc VAT, to do 1 hr of diagnostics (labour rate is £216 ph).

New primary sensors are waterproofed much better than the OEM ones. OEM on left, new ones on the right.

I had an email from the dealership saying the original downstream sensor is £79 + fitting £170, unless there is a problem while fitting.

The code on the estimate is 8888602409 which is the same as the Geely owned Lynk & co/Volvo one.

We have two different listings for o2 sensors, oem replacements and the ones we just discovered to replace them recently which is a Bosch primary and a Denso secondary sensor.
I have not been able to confirm fitment or function on the secondaries yet but will do so asap.
The Bosch primary sensors work perfectly and are of much better quality as pictured above in Kitkats photo.

What is the code on the new sensor, please. Is this the pre cat sensor?

Sorry the only P/N on the sensors is exactly the same, I suspect that is a connector P/N and not an oxygen sensor P/N.

I'm trying to find where these details are in the manual that many of us downloaded, I can't find mention of the O2 sensors. 🤔 Can you point me to which section they are under, eg 4? Emission equipment for the 4 cylinder is showing but not the V6.

Thanks

You can remove the trunk side Bank 1 sensor without removing anything else as long as you don’t have massive arms. Just have to maneuver down between the heat shields and work slightly by feel.
The forward Bank 2 requires removal of a couple bolts on the heat shield that covers it to access it with a wrench. One of those has a nut on the backside so don’t drop it!

Just out of interest, how many owners who have had a problem with the post cat/downstream O2 sensor have a 3rd cat delete pipe fitted? Can a leak from, say, the gasket cause the errors?

The decat pipe sits far down the exhaust stream from the rear o2 sensors. Even with a major leak the exhaust pulses couldn’t really pull fresh air and cause an issue. I think it really is just the factory sensors are just junk quality.
