New here - I know there is a lot of speculation on a possible new V8 for the Emira with a new gearbox as well. I researched and found that it will most likely be a version of the M177, used in the S-Class Mercedes. The EVO version meets the new BS EU standards, so it would be a beast with the M177. I'm waiting for the 27s, but if no manual, I'll just buy a discounted 26 with the V6 Manual. I hope it's the M177 NON-EVO version. I'd prefer a "clean" V8 manual with no possibility for "EV Gremlins".
A recent dealership conversation was that they are updating the 27 options now on the configurator (why it's been glitchy lately). I've owned two Porsches, so I'm looking for something different than yet another 911, and Porsche is having major issues in 26 on models and their 27 direction for cars. I've also looked at the Ferrari Porto versions & 296, Aston Martin Vantage (uses this engine), McLaren Artura (EV Gremlins), Lambo EVO, and have settled on the Lotus Emira for many factors. I love the exterior looks and new interiors, with the Lotus history. I'm a former USAF NATO Intelligence Officer and corporate slave for 35 years, buying my "retirement" fun car. Love the Nimbus Grey with beige interior.
I guess we will all find out soon what Geely & Lotus decide for the 27 US market - my gut tells me it will be the M177 regular or EVO version, with a new manual 6-7 speed.
