Everyone knows the old cliche that LOTUS stands for Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious, a now rather outdated term originating back in the 70s when Lotus cars had a habit of leaving owners stranded or wet or with grazed knuckles, and often rather lighter wallets.

People have tried to update it to more positive versions, like Loads Of Torque Usually Sideways and Lots of Technology, Unique Styling.

We had a couple of ideas on another thread today for the latest version:

Let’s Omit Telling Us Stuff (from @TomE)

Let's Overlook The Useful Suggestions (from @EspritGuy)

Leave Out The Unnecessary Stuff (from @Eagle7)

If you have other suggestions, Let's Operate To Update Something... :)

Very timely. Below are a couple that applies to all Elise and Exige models from an article I read recently - Why doesn’t Gordon Murray own a Lotus Elise? A light-hearted account on GM's attempt at trying to fit into a series 3 Elise - an amusing read. There is also a link to a video of GM's 'lightweight car collection'.

"The old saying goes that ‘Lotus’ stands for ‘Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious.’ Today we can amend that to ‘Lacking Of Thigh Upwards Space’, or ‘Little Orifice Too Unusually Small’. Don’t meet your heroes, eh Gordon? Look, Often The Ultimates Suck." - Ollie Kew, Top Gear
