LA service: Galpin or EuroCar

Two things: I think it's unlikely that the software updates for the V6 Manual (my car) are the same as the I4, but I could be wrong. And there may actually be some differences between 2024 and 2025 model years insofar as what updates they get. But, regardless of this, Eurocar let me know that it is not the download of the software, which they said was relatively quick. But rather when they loading the software update to the car. It's this part of the process they say they are staring a long time at a progress bar that is VERY slow. And FWIW I asked if this was Lotus specific and they said that's been their experience with Ferrari as well.

My bad, yes you mentioned you had a V6. You're right, the software updates would be different.

That's interesting and good to know about the software updates being slow to send to the car. Guess I gotta plan accordingly when I bring it in.

Hm, I just picked up my car today back from eurocar, and my invoice doesn't list any updates done, only the oil change and 1st year MPI. I was going to check which updates were done.... now I wonder if any were done at all.

Maybe Vic was all talked out after my 1000 questions, but I would ask him directly about this.

Thanks again, I'll give Vik a call tomorrow and see if anything was done aside from the oil change.

These were the SW updates that were just installed on my 2024 V6 Manual, FYI:

Scrutinizing this again, it seems the VDDM update is addressing the cruise control (I had zero issues), AEB is the Automated Emergency Braking system, EGSM (Electronic Gear Shift Module) seems to be for automatics only, so N/A for my car, PSCM PMF may be related to power steering, and ECM DTCs is pretty generic and referring to error codes thrown by the ECM. So perhaps this last one may resolve the erroneous "reduced engine power" issue. But the second update seems to be completly N/A for first edition any with memory seats, so not sure why this needed to be applied to my car. Kind of disappointing I see nothing here to address the infotainment issues/freezes,/drops.

Upon further investigation, the VDDM update is listed on NHTSA's website (https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2024/LOTUS/EMIRA#manufacturerCommunications) for the I4 only. So why was it applied to my car? Further, the CEM update is listed for cars without memory seats, so again, why my car? Seem neither of these software updates were really intended for my car. So why is Eurocar somehow showing my VIN needing these two? Ok, now I'm ranting......

Yeah I don’t see any need for these SW updates. Maybe Eurocar just updates all emiras to the latest SW and isn’t selective about it. Would kind of make sense.

Galpin (service collocated with JLR) did provide a fpace loaner and got all 4 updates for mine within the same day. I dropped off early at 8:30am and picked up at 5pm. They did tell me they needed my car overnight, they just somehow managed to finish before eod. I guess dropping off early really helped.
