Guys, this works! It doesn’t charge, but it’s manipulable in terms of exact angle and position. Fairly lithe when not in use. No permanent marks or glue or drilling. Doesn’t depend on double stick tape.

Given that wired CarPlay is so vastly superior to wireless, and so much less glitchy, I think the lack of charging is a plus. Let’s just plug in our iPhones (after deleting the CarPlay profile to make sure it won’t wirelessly connect accidentally)!?

Personally I wouldn’t want to convert my car into a taxi
Just plug it in and throw it in the middle console, carplay offers anything you should need while driving hands-free anyways

But then I’d only have one touch screen in reach while I drive stick!

Also helpful with certain obd2 apps that don’t support CarPlay display.

I do this and its fine but sometimes Emira glitches out or if you're in America we love having drinks in our cup holders

My insurance policy explicitly calls that out, it was one of the questions I was asked when they put the quote together - "You are NOT going to use the vehicle to provide ride share services, like Uber, Lyft etc., right?"

Okay let me explain the reason why some people dont like carplay. I like to watch youtube or music videos on the big screen (emira) and waze on the phone screen …. Waze app is wayyyy better on phone than carplay… and most apps are. Carplay kinda sucks

Very similar to my setup, but I liked the wireless charging function. The vent can blow cold air to cool the phone and charger. Wireless CarPlay only pooped itself a couple of times during the 1 year ownership so I enjoyed the convenience.

I agree it’s nice to watch videos on big screen while doing sudoku on phone while driving manual. People just don’t get it

I have the matte carbon covers. I think GRP and Jogon both sell, among others.
