Intermittent delay when pressing start button to car actually starting

Mine (V6 Manual) started at 2000 miles as well, now at 4k miles, it seems to not do it as much, could be temp related. I don't think about it much, as it always starts

I just dropped off at dealer for inspection on issue, they are investingating it, mine would take 2-3 seconds usually and up to 5 seconds every once in a while, its just not quite right. Will post update on what Lotus says

Mine had a service yesterday. I was told the 25004 VDDM software update they did had something to do with car start up problems.

Mine has had delayed starting since day one of ownership. A year later, no problems with my Emira. It concerned me to initially, but I figured it’s one of the cars quirks.

As an update, car's been at dealer for a week now, they are communicating with Lotus to get some sort of solution as they have the same issue with one of their demo's. I think they were asking for fuel pressure numbers. My rep basically said computer on their end shows absolutely nothing wrong, but the delayed start symptom is very evident.

Hopefully it gets resolved and they are able to consolidate a fix to others. I'll update whenever I get the end result

I’m pretty sure there’s nothing wrong. As far as I remember, the start failures were caused by communication problems between control units, possibly related to communication order.

From my software dev perspective, the startup delay could simply be extra time to ensure everything is ready before the car starts.

In my case, the delay has increased compared to delivery over the span of a few updates and I haven’t had any start failures since then. Maybe coincidence, maybe not, but a few seconds don’t matter as long as it starts reliably.
