I thought I might as well start a thread for this as many have been or are going.I went yesterday, there probably not much I saw that others have already said but these were my main takeaways:
  • I enjoyed going!
  • The car still looks amazing 👌
  • Big emphasis on quality control
  • The interior (especially tan leather) looks top notch. I didn't see ice grey.
  • There has been some delay caused by the lockdown in China
  • Definitely not in (or even close to) full production
  • Cars I saw (in production) were for demonstration and dealers
  • Saw all the colours (inside lighting) in various stage of build. Saw blue and red outside.
  • They don't polish the cars so hopefully no swirl marks etc on paint.
  • They will be running 2 shifts from the get go.
  • Couldn't see a car with privacy glass on the rear
  • Colour ratio (guestimates) in the production hall most to least: Nimbus(>5), magma(4), blue(2), yellow(1), verdant(1) and grey(1) this might relate to dealer choice
  • The forged wheels looked good. Lots of space to see the discs and calipers. Black calipers black wheels and magma look like a good combo!

The ones I saw were not matt. Same finish as the cast ones. Looked nice though.

What are your thoughts on how the colors look compared to the configurator? How does magma look outside?

Blue looks about right, and looks better in natrual light
Magma looks more metalic and a shade darker than the configurator both in the factory and out. Nice colour.
Nimbus looked better in real life .. the configurator doesn't handle metallic very well (liquid silver look)
Yellow looks the same as configurator and looked great with the black back
Green was also a good match to the configurator

Did you see a shadow grey with black pack?

So when the existing colours for example in mclaren models, can you compare nimbus with some pre existing model ?

Was the tan interior orangey? Or s good looking tan?
I’m sure this is a hard question to answer because everyone has a different idea of good looking tan, but I share the same concern as you and will be paying particularly close attention to this on a tour tomorrow.

For me, the best tan interiors are darker, more saddle-like brown. I am not a fan of orangey or even creamy tan leathers. I want espresso, not latte and certainly not pumpkin spice.

This is the best representation of magma I've seen so far... and its a 1/18th scale model! :)

Same concern here. Since taking pictures is prohibited, perhaps you could compare the color to a "reference" brown?

That’s a tad darker than I expected - I like that though. Still torn between magma and Seneca.

Seems like a lot to carry with me on the tour. Maybe I’ll just grab a coffee from the Cantina and, while staring intensely at an interior on the line, pour in creamer until it’s the right shade.

If it’s too orange to represent with coffee, it’s too orange for me.
