I've been a long term user of Torque and thought it would be cool to read some of the data from the app and display it in a pretty way on the centre screen.
This is a bit techie and will need some fiddling.
To start, you will need:
- Torque Pro app (the paid for version, not the free version)
play.google.com
- Compatible OBD2 ELM327 Bluetooth adapter
I've got a cheap generic one from Amazon
- Get the above paired/connected and working on your phone first. Don't touch Android Auto at this stage.
Then you will need:
- "AATorque"
github.com
- You'll need to do some reading up and join the testers group:
groups.google.com
Once you have it up and running, it works pretty well! You can read the PID's from Torque and then use AATorque to display the data in custom dashboards. (which you can also backup/import/export)
When connecting to the car, you may need to start Torque before starting AATorque - or maybe create a mode/routine/automation in Android to do this for you. (the trigger point being connecting to the cars Bluetooth)
Pictures of my results/custom dashboards are attached!
I've also attached my dashboard file - happy for you guys to use this as your starting point - but you have to share your results/dashboard files in return!
Before you ask - no there is no "engine oil temperature" - I do not think the V6 engine has a sensor for this - (believe some aftermarket sumps have an option to add a sensor though)
My car is a V6 manual - I've not tested/tried it on any others.
I am not the creator/author/developer of any of the software - I'm just sharing what I have found with you...
Good luck and enjoy!
