I've just had a C service done at a local independent that specialises in Ferraris. I provided everything for them, including print outs from the workshop manual, they sourced the oil filter tool as I hadn't realised you needed one. I replaced the air filter myself, easy to do just frustrating hooking the housing back correctly, so that saved 30 mins and I removed all the trim in the engine bay, again saving a bit of time.
They changed my faulty O2 sensor at the same time, supplied by me, so having the service done at the same time reduced labour time a little on that. I printed off the service checklists found on here and they did everything on there other than software updates but the dealer had updated up to the 1st week of August so I'm not too bothered about that.
GSF car parts have offers on oil with oil filter on eBay, so picked up 6ltrs + filter for £65, Mobil 1 correct spec, and gearbox oil the same. Dealers will charge £100+ for the oil alone that they buy in bulk, if indeed it's branded oil. I did find fastenings missing from engine covers and a screw missing from the air filter housing, only the Lotus dealer had worked on it prior, so not much confidence in their 'technicians'. My car has only done 1750 miles so the auxiliary belt was checked but was like new so didn't require changing, this would add a chunk on to the bill I'm sure.
At the same time as replacing the O2 sensor I asked them to try one I bought off AliExpress that was a compatible one with various Volvo models. The Lynk & Co one provided by the dealer is compatible with the same models, this was an aftermarket Chinese one. It fit, it worked and cleared the fault and was working as it should through their scanner. They fit the Lotus provided one as asked and I have a spare just in case of an emergency.
If anyone is interested this is the part, I paid £9.50 delivered and it took about 9 days. It's now about £15.
All told they charged for 5 hrs work, this included steam cleaning the rear diffuser after it was taken off, O2 replacement/testing, service, Inc road testing. Book stamped and an invoice.
Is it a Lotus stamp no, but to be honest I have little faith in my Lotus dealers workshop so having guys who work on Ferrari, Lambos, Aston etc gives me more confidence. The car is out of Lotus warranty and needs a record of service for the extended warranty, so sorted. They prep cars for the the track, race bikes and have a track car of their own. They were very impressed with the Emira, both in looks and how it drove.
I'm in West Yorkshire so Labour rates here aren't what they'd be in the likes of Surrey, LA or other far away places.
