DYNO RESULTS : Mods Yield NO POWER GAINS!?!?!?!?!?

my intuition is that cold air intake and exhaust while minimal have potential to make more power on FI cars, turbo more than superchargers. I'm guessing that the 3rd cat delete is going to offer more performance than upgraded catback exhaust. that said the sound improvement and minimal gains in throttle response and power are well worth upgrading the air filter and 3rd cat delete. they are so cheap to do and transform the sound.
Typically, both turbos and superchargers "move" more air - so intakes and exhausts should make more difference thon on a normally aspirated car (I assume that is what you mean by an `FI` car?). If the intake and exhaust already can supply `enough` air for the engine then changing these would not be expected to make a difference without some kind of additional tuning.
 
JB4 for sure makes real power.

There seems to be a limit on the upper bound regardless of additional airflow capacity where ecu simply refuses to keep throttle open.

JB4 + pulley will make upwards of 100hp real cheap.

Everything else is lower hp/$.

Map 2 has been very … volatile on dyno. Few have reproduced the burger Suntory industrial complex map 2 results.

Regardless it’s great value and tangible improvement.

Car needs +200whp, and although I’d never modify mine, there are rumors of things in the oven… the ecu has officially been hacked open and is sharing it’s secrets as we speak

That would suggest the air intake and exhaust are not restrictive. If the car tuned can suck through the extra air required to produce an additional 100hp, then the stock hardware can't be a limiting factor at standard power.

I’m not sure I’d follow that logic exactly. “Restrictive” isn’t a yes/no, it’s a range. Even if air flow was suboptimal, I don’t think it would necessarily cap hp gains through other means. That said, I wouldn’t expect major gains from intake and exhaust.

JB4 makes power by itself, but data has confirmed adding catless headers and pulley to jb4 increases power.

The catback isn’t restrictive.

The third cat isn’t very restrictive.

However, The oem exhaust manifolds are a disaster. They are 20 year old Camry manifolds. The issue is, catless headers require much more labor expense, and also need proper tuning to take advantage of.

Pulleys also need proper tuning to take advantage of.

My friends emira with the intake, catless headers, blower lid and 2.6” pulley sounds v nice. For some, good noises are worth paying for. Way more whine, way more exhaust noise, sounds better than my 488 or 600lt did, and that’s with our hateful deplorable grotesque 6800rpm redline.

I am sure sound will improve further with an extra 400-500 rpms.

At this point, I would wait a week or two until some ecu flashed emira dynos roll out. Data should separate signal from noise on this topic.
