Dash Cam USB Port Issue

I recently installed an Ombar T1 dash cam and used the USB port in the rearview mirror housing as a power source seeing as the price was right and there was a YouTube video showing a successful install. When I'm running it, it seems to power off on occasion and immediately power back on and resume recording with the dash cam app showing it loses connection temporarily and then reconnects as well.

I tried using a different USB cable, but that doesn't seem to help. I think next step would be to get a USB voltmeter to ensure there isn't a issue with the port itself, but that seems like an unlikely thing given my limited understanding of USB A ports and that the dash cam immediately powers up again.

Have others experienced a similar issue?

Yes I do. And I probably watched the same YT video.

The Ombar is annoying the heck out of me and I'm questing my purchase; it's incredibly talkative *and* sensitive.
With sports suspension it literally goes (from memory) "Accident; video locked" every few minutes and this is with
the sensitivity turned to lowest setting. You can turn off the !@#$ audible spew, but AFAICT it forgets its settings
every time the power goes off (see the original issue).

I had a BlackVue DR650S in another vehicle but I wasn't impressed with that either.
