I’d be more inclined to go with silicone (as others have done). It should last longer than rubber (of most types) as it’s more resistant to heat cycling. I think people are using 1.5mm thick

I could easily make new versions of those out of EPDM membrane which is rubber roofing. That stuff lasts over 30 years out in the direct sun everyday and it's only .06 inches thick.

If anything I could just cut a square and send them to people and they could cut the shape themselves since it would be a little tedious to do a bunch of them.

It just needs to be waterproof and somewhat heatproof, so any thickness should be fine. If I remember you need a piece 60cm by 80cm minimum and you can cut it to size against the existing bib (which hopefully has already been fitted to your car at a previous service/recall).

Hi guys, due to get my 2023 plate V6 FE in September when I retire. It's done 1717 miles and currently being held in storage for me at Stratton Motor Company in the UK. From reading this thread I'm guessing the membrane will need replacing on mine too. I'll take NicolasB advice and get a sheet of EPDM fitted prior to pickup. Question - how thin does it need to be in mm? Freedom units are optional!

I am using .060 inch thick EPDM. I will update when finished.

Check the electronics as well. It could be working fine but if water has got in an corrosion has started unless you clean it up it'll degrade further. Any sign of corrosion, use some electronics contact cleaner to remove it back to shiny metal again.
