@Eagle7 have you thought about the CF hood or rear louvers to save quite a bit of weight? I don't personally like them, but I know they would save a good bit of weight..
Just a thought...
After watching the excellent video by getawaydriving on YouTube, I started thinking about what my real use/goal is for my car. I've always modded every car I've owned to make improvements, and because I enjoy modding. For the Emira I'm not taking it to the track, so max performance isn't needed. I do enjoy being in it and driving it, no matter what the speed. I don't have to be going fast to enjoy driving it. I noticed on the 700+ mile trip I took with it, that tire noise and road roar do start to become tiresome after awhile. I enjoy a good exhaust tone, but not just being loud like I used to when I was younger. Quality over quantity is more important to me now.
I've decided I want a street/road sports car that sounds good, but is still comfortable to be in for hours at a time if on a trip. I'm never going to launch it or do a clutch dump to try and get a max 0-60 time. I didn't buy the car for that, and that's not something I want to use it for. I didn't buy it for racing, so max power on the street is not something I really need, which means power at rpms above 4k are not as important for me. There's so much traffic here now that you really can't do that very often. Average speeds around here are 35-45, with a few spots where you can get to 55 for a few minutes but that's about it. I have to plan to leave the area and go north for half an hour, to start to find areas in the canyons and hills where I can do more than just poke along in traffic. That's not a problem; I can and have been doing that, but it's something I have to plan for as opposed to boulevard cruising around town.
For what I need, more torque and performance from idle to about 4k-ish rpm will be what I use the most. Now I'm revisiting the idea of a dual exhaust system, because that would deliver exactly what I want. The JB4 already made a nice improvement in that area.
Removing a few pounds with carbon fiber is very expensive, and for my use wouldn't really make any noticeable performance difference. For a track focused build, yeah. My experience with lighter brake rotors with past cars means I know the CCB brakes will make a difference.
I finally got the ti delete pipe from
@Aerie after 3 updated delivery times from UPS (not a delay from Aerie, they shipped it quickly) and it's a beautiful thing to behold. The welding and forming is really impressive. It's 4.76 lbs lighter than the 3rd cat.
