3rd Cat Delete but not do the valve controller??

Yes, it's happened to me a couple times. Also be careful clicking the button a lot of times, I think it's something like five times in 10 seconds and it changes the way the controller behaves. Instead of remembering the last mode when you turn on the car it resets to the stock mode. I didn't realize that the first time that happened and I was so confused.

Press #1 button 5 times within 5 seconds.

Resetting the unit is not easy and a physical button inside the unit. I've done the deep dive on this unit having programmed my own custom valve controller remote.

ive recently had the 3rd cat delete without changing the controller, just been over to the nurburgring for a long weekend and had the car go into limp mode 4 times, i had a generic code reader with me showing P2B99 and P1014 and i could clear the faults, when i googled these, it seems to suggest a valve calibration issue, i hadnt had any of this before installing the delete pipe.

That’s odd. I’ve not heard of anyone having issues like that just from removing the 3rd cat (and loads have removed it). Are you sure whomever installed it didn’t move/hit/twist the valve itself by accident?

It's possible, I fitted the pipe myself but was very careful, I think I will take a look, maybe grease the valve, make sure it moves to it full extents and if that's no good then get it booked in, trouble is the code trigger has no pattern to it, I drove all the way back from Germany without it happening.

There are a lot of good posts on the 3r cat delete and my dealership is suggesting I do the Milltek as they have had less install issues. With new gaskets of course.

I am still on the fence about the vave controller. I am just concerned, and maybe I am not reading the posts right, that I could do damage to the engine if I do not have the settings on the valve controller right/I have the valves closed by accident when they need to be open.

I am curious how many have just done the third cat delete.

And with respect to the MIlltek Valve Controller, if there really is an OEM mode, or that I cannot screw this up and damage the engine...

Just got the 3rd cat installed - a little bit of expansion was needed but worked in the end.

There is a little more rumble on idle, but after 4k rpm or so it is quite glorious. Happy that on normal driving it is still pretty standard sounding, but when you want to gun it, it is wonderful. Extremely happy with it and won't be looking to add the valve controller. Hope that helps!

I used Miltek and it worked perfectly, didn't need to resize the pipe.

They both function the same. Through my experience, miltek tends to have less fitment issues (doesn’t mean you won’t). I used Miltek and had no issues- make sure to use a little permatex antiseize as lubricant

This is exactly what I did and I was quite relaxed that they’d do it right.

I installed the Milltek last week by myself and it fit perfectly (tight). Only took about 1.5 hrs with lots of use of penetrating fluid and a rubber mallet. Sounds brilliant and no CELs for me.

I installed the cat delete first and then installed the VC later. The VC makes a more noticeable difference in the volume of the exhaust. I would definitely recommend that.

I had troubles expanding the GRP pipe myself so had to go to a muffler shop to have it properly expanded.

Yes, it would. Personally, I think 3rd cat delete + valves open sounds incredible and after a month of driving it in this config I think it's perfect.
