I'm sure with 100% proper attention to detail on the interior you can maintain almost anything, but given the nature of what most people maintain at which is probably a hair less than "obsessive", the results over time would be pretty staggering. Your example is a little anecdotal.

The fact that it *can* wear like that though, is my concern. I plan to keep this car for a good long while, and any car with leather I've owned it's been pretty minimal to keep it looking great and soft.

Generally speaking I've learned how to track the car (and this is going back *years*!) to pull my seat back in the farthest position, click on my seatbelt and engage the 'lock' by pulling on it tight, and then pulling my seat up. The seat has never made any difference because my belt locks me...
