Verdant Green Emira now showing on Lotus Driving Academy website!

Well, as demanding potential Emira owners, we are compelled to analyze this issue properly. Here is a quick measurement and the difference is a whopping 17 millimeters (two thirds of an inch; i.e., 66.9%). IMHO that's a VERY significant difference. BTW, the horizontal red line is the...

Evora, or Emira, which is the better looking car

Funny you should say that, because Lotus sold 6,000 Evoras in 12 years and 10,000 Emiras in ONE year, with the latter being 20 times more popular. In my opinion Emira is about 60% prettier than Evora.

Evora, or Emira, which is the better looking car

In my view, if the new design is not at least 20% better looking than the outgoing model from 10-15 years ago, then it's pretty much a failure.

Evora, or Emira, which is the better looking car

Just wanted to remind the gang that these two models are 13-14 years apart, and in car design world that's a pretty big gap (imagine F15 vs. F22 jets). Secondly the Evora is a 2+2 which affects the roof line compared to the 2 seater. Thirdly the Emira is a good 150-200kg heavier and from a...

    Gran Turismo 7

In fairness, even Lotus itself was able to crank out a handful of these babies so far, so one would think GT7 should need a bit of time to get the Emira ready in the game.

i4 FE or V6 FE (6.25% price difference)?

Your decision will ultimately come down to stick shift or paddle shift. I drove stick for years but personally do not feel strongly about stick as many enthusiasts seem to be (probably because my skills suck). In 2022, auto shifting has been proven to be better than manual in the hands of an...

Tweet by lotus with some photos

God forbid some of us should need to use underground car parks... I'd love to have low ride height just like the launch car, but I can't deal with going through a new bumper every 2 weeks.

    Switching colours?

My suspicion is that whichever color you choose, you will end up doubting yourself... In my case, I picked blue upon launch (plus blue is one of my fav colors, my CLS is lunar blue on biege which rocks), and then started drooling over H Yellow and DV, played with the idea of going shadow grey,...

Lotus Emira resale prices? How much will the Emira sell on the 2nd hand market?

A couple of observations: 1. While Lotus has to re-create its pizzazz in front of a global crowd, the job is easier for Emira than the Eletre, as the former is simply prettier. Plus Lotus has a better following in the traditional sports car world. 2. That being said, the Eletre will be...

Lotus Emira resale prices? How much will the Emira sell on the 2nd hand market?

Economics 101: supply/demand curve. Depends on how many Emiras Lotus will sell. It's true that Merc can jack up prices on the G, but they also have mass sellers like C, E, GLC, GLE. Lotus doesn't have that. My bet is the Emira will be sold at par mostly maybe with a small premium...

    Lotus Marketing opinions?

I am shocked that you think Lotus does their commercials in house... Lotus getting some generic artsy crap from an ad agency is no different than me getting a pressure cooker that is more looks than use.

Lotus Emira vs MKV Toyota Supra (2020+)

At the risk of offending Supra lovers, to me, the Supra is like a BRZ on steroids (not to mention the guts are BMW), while the EMIRA is a toned down 488. Sort of like Kirstin Dunst vs Megan Fox. I'd never debate which to pick out of the two.

Do we know the Emira's MPG fuel economy yet?

W/r/t the AMG engined version, the A45 has been recorded at 28mpg. The Emira being 400lbs lighter, its fuel economy should be in the same neighborhood as well. I am actually curious whether the Emira is more aero, as sports cars are notorious for not being that aero.

Speculation: FE I4 will have 400HP and 480NM?

480nm is nuts. To put it in perspective, one of my all time favorite cars, the Zagato Vanquish Shooting Brake, has around 600nm of torque. But the Zagato is 1850lbs and costs 10-12 times more. Ordered my 1rice2 in blue on tan in Mainland. Can't wait.

    Goodyear or Michelin durability ???

Won't be using the car on track (probably). Will be mostly for leisure/fun purposes. Cup2s are much higher end and costly so a better deal because the price is the same for FE. However, it's been said that Cup2s wear out pretty fast. I have seen 10,000-20,000kms quoted for the CUP2s...

To me the Emira looks so much better than both the GT3 and GT4.

With the exception of the Taycan Sport Turismo, pretty much all Porsches are like fat toads. Plus in my country Porsche prices are obscene. A well spec'ed GT2RS is right around US$1 million.

Thoughts on the 2023 Nissan Z

As a former Z car owner, I feel the same way. Sometimes so much is played into this "paying homage to the OG" that the designers' hands are bound and can't really go for something from the future. Instead, they struggle to try and combine the past with the present. I had a 2003 350Z...

Emira Styling: We all know it's gorgeous, but why...?

To highlight a few things: 1. The 488 (essentially the 458 design) is about 15 years old now... So the Emira has a 13-14 year advantage over the 488. Remember the Aventador is about 15 years on the Diablo, which is in turn 20 years on the one and only Countach. The EMIRA is able to take...

Toyota 2GR-FE engine vs. BMW B58 (Supra) engine

It's all really weird. Toyota is using BMW's engine on its new Supra, Lotus is using Merc and Toyota engines on its new Emira… Some say gas cars are having a big orgy now that EVs are taking over anyway. But the question remains, which is the better engine, the Toyota 2GR engine and BMW B58?

    Emira redesigned by Ferrari/McLaren designer

I actually agreed with most of the comments by Frank but his solutions were not that well thought through and certainly did not receive the amount of effort/attention that 720S did. As good as the original Emira is, I do feel the lines leading to the vent were a bit vague below the rear view...

    Emira redesigned by Ferrari/McLaren designer

Not sure if this has been posted... but Frank Stevenson who designed the F430 and McLaren P1 among others, have put together a modified Emira design. He did say the changes are more a matter of personal taste and was highly complimentary towards the design job by the Lotus team. What do you...
