Is a battery tender supposed to be included at delivery?

You’re kidding? You get half-priced cars AND a battery charger?? You Americans have really got it good…

Now that reviews are out is anyone having 2nd thoughts about Emira ?

Eagle, do you have a blog thread? I hadn’t realised that yours had arrived. I’ve been following your posts ever since we started on this forum… seems like many years ago!

    Highway "Cruising" - Consensus Feedback

Touring V6 here. Our Tassie backroads are pretty narrow and bumpy, and the car handles them superbly. Not as casual as my previous Golf GTI, but you expect that. Highway driving seems pretty normal, although I tend to concentrate more on varying the engine speed for break-in (surprisingly...

    Hill Hold?

Don‘t worry about it — just drive your car like you always do and it’ll do its thing. I have it on my base model Isuzu ute too and it’s terrific. Just give it a few more beans when you drive off on a hill so you don’t stall.

Why did you choose I4 over V6?

Back to the original question, driving my V6 manual in city traffic is a pain. Just like any manual sportscar. If you’re always city driving then get the i4 DCT (auto V6 is an abomination). But if you’re driving it anywhere else, the manual V6 is sex on a stick.

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Once I got past the American accents and over-exuberance I really enjoyed this review. First time I’ve seen a Lotus/Porsche comparison that doesn’t have skewed preconceptions. Does anyone recall why our cars don’t rev past 6800rpm? I have a vague recollection it was due to heat — obviously very...

    Emira with NO issues?

800kms and no issues here. (Well, just a very brief tyre pressure sensor glitch, and a new message and yellow triangle to say my service is due.) Washed three times with a foam cannon and pressure sprayer. The only difficulty was trying to dry the brake discs — no matter what I do, they still...

    More details for KEF Audio

Yeah, I noticed this too. I’m confused, as the fresh air sub is supposed to be an enclosed system (not infinite baffle), ported to the outside, using the cabin as the enclosure. https://bluacs.com/technology/freshairspeaker/ We shouldn’t be able to see the front of the cone. What‘s going on?

The front end looks like it crashed... ?

It’s my goal in life to teach Americans how to say “emu” correctly. The car in real life looks properly sexy and not crashed. I showed a friend mine and she couldn’t believe a car like it existed. “The most beautiful car I’ve ever seen.”

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

”Engine tech has virtually overmatched the requirements of the gearbox. I just hear a zizzing whine and I didn’t need to change gear once through four kilometres of twisties.” Yeah, I think this is the thing that disappoints me about my car. I used to have an MX-5 and would row through the...

    Fitting a battery conditioner... Do's and Don'ts

Yep, I had one of these fitted by the dealer before pickup. I got the idea from someone on this forum — they’d mounted theirs sideways on the battery cover, but my dealer managed to get it vertical, about a third of the way along the cover. Looks terrific (and they’ve now added it as a permanent...

    Caterham EV

Not a fan of the dustbuster mouth on this (or the MC20). The rear lights are also a bit underdone… although I can appreciate where they’re coming from. Overall, a nice looking vehicle, but not a touch on the Emira.

Ok, I'm saying it - the infotainment system sucks (but who cares)

Interesting. I’d be happy to pay to enable DAB… so I don’t have to start CarPlay each drive. I wonder if it can be done individually?

Ok, I'm saying it - the infotainment system sucks (but who cares)

Australian cars don’t come with DAB either (which is odd, as my cheap Isuzu ute has it). Digital radio is the same as digital tv — usually an all-or-nothing signal, so when it works it’s ‘perfect‘ reception. There might be some frequency advantages as well, but I’d have to Wiki it. I use a...

    📓 Journals Magma in Tasmania

Couple of thoughts after a driving day yesterday (Hobart to Richmond/Oatlands): The car is pretty much faultless. For you Americans waiting, I would say those vehicles with problems are the extremely rare ones. The brakes get super crusty sitting in a garage — I had real trouble getting the...

Air con known issue -no fix yet [EDIT: now with official fix]

Had our first really warm day in Tassie yesterday — the air conditioning worked a treat. Bit confusing with the controls (it seems to kick back into “auto” by Itself)… but still, no complaints here!

Magma Red Lotus Emira Photo Thread

It’s definitely a curious colour… responds very well to light. But I’ve found it to look quite drab in the shade. If I was buying again I think I’d go for the brighter red (can’t believe I just said that)…

    📓 Journals Magma in Tasmania

We had the day off yesterday and took a leisurely drive from Hobart to Dover (Tasmania). A beautiful road with lots of twisties and not a lot of traffic. The car was a wonder! Admittedly I'm coming from a fairly ordinary base (I've owned an MX-5 and MR2, and my daily drive is an Isuzu ute)...

Come on Lotus - you are better than this.....

Some really interesting design features: That C-pillar treatment… not sure I’ve seen that before. The hatch is going to hit a few garage roofs! Love the wheels (would like these on my Emira). The split headlights could have been their only mistake. Looks a bit awkward. Personally I quite like...

Black Wrap on Just the Roof and Mirrors - Thoughts?

Here's a photo of mine halfway through the black PPF application, similar to your thoughts. I'm glad I had the rails and a-pillar done, otherwise it wouldn't line up with the black vents. And I left the mirrors body-coloured because, ya know, magma!

    New Lotus company

Probably to bring it into line with the upcoming share market listing: https://www.drive.com.au/news/lotus-electric-car-division-to-go-public/# The article says that “Lotus Cars” will continue to exist. I guess it will be the privately owned British manufacturing division, now relinquishing...

Seating Position - How do you find it?!?

I spent about an hour playing with seat position yesterday. I’m 6’2” and definitely could do with more head room — the seat doesn’t seem to go low enough. But I think I’ve found a fairly good compromise with a decent amount of recline. The seats themselves feel great to me. Not as bolstered as...

    Cleaning exhaust tips?

Does anyone know what the silver exhaust tips are made from, and if they’re clear coated? I‘ve got a fair amount of carbon build-up on them already, but I’m not sure the best way to clean them. Aluminium cleaner? Paint polish?

    Fitting a battery conditioner... Do's and Don'ts

Adding my experience to this valuable thread… I had Lotus Melbourne install the Comfort Plug in the battery cover before delivery. First time they’ve done it, and they’ll be recommending it from now on. A very neat solution. @DJS is right — the plug tends to go amber quite often. I’ll then...

    📓 Journals Magma in Tasmania

Yeah, as @digilotus said, I had the roof and A-pillars done in piano black PPF. Initially it was because I wanted the silver exhaust tips… but I also really like the red mirrors and silver lettering. Plus, no chance of marring the roof paint, and quite a bit cheaper too. Edit: here's a shot of...

    📓 Journals Magma in Tasmania

Magma Emira arrives in the Apple Isle After an almost two year wait, my magma arrived in Devonport, Tasmania last Friday. Lotus Melbourne very kindly brought the car over on the ferry, as we don't have a dealership in Tasmania. Servicing will occur when the Melbourne guys come to Tassie each...
