Test drives and final stage of buying process for UK July delivery batch

As I've said before, manufacturers have no customer facing dna, it's all with traditional retailers, so it will be a long time for them to understand and change(if they ever do). I'm a big believer that management measuring sticks drive behaviour and at Lotus it may be x cars per day and that...

Is it futile to compare the Emira with Porsche 718/Boxter/Caymen

Many of the reviews compare the Emira driving experience against the Porsche 718 GTS and that's OK, I guess. But there is a BUT. The 718 model line has been fleshed out to 4 models, 4 cyl entry model, 4 litre GTS, 4 litre GT4 and 4 litre GT4RS. Each model has a different suspension (...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

A couple of observations. Harry is a car enthusiast , look at his collection, and reviews as an enthusiast……..he says the steering and touring suspension is great, completely at odds with some professional reviewers (who need to earn a salary). He doesn’t deny some realities, like the weight...

    Emira Review Index [V6 FE]

Matt Prior, Autocar And as a driver’s car, it’s mostly great. On challenging stretches of road is where it’s absolutely at its best, in fact. On a road where there are loads of inputs on one side of the car and fewer on the other, strewn with cambers and crests and gradients, it shows its true...

    Full reviews incoming?

I have ordered a manual and auto Emira so when I'm in enthusiast mode I can take the manual. Fezza and Mclaren, the performance brands, use auto for many reasons but were initially driven by outright performance stats and recently emission regs. The reason BMW is moving to slush boxes from dct...

    Emira GT?

iirc the GT4 718 HAS 150 KILO of downforce but at v max mph. The question of at what speed is the downforce quoted is revealing. Most owners of so-called sports cars rarely venture over 120mph (pick a speed). Track driving is a different issue.

How many crossed shopped the GT4?

Wouldn't surprise me if there are some fence-sitters......we can't upset our relationship with mighty Porsche......but equally some will laud the Emira......because Lotus needs our support! The key elements for me, - how it handles, how it rides, wots the box like, is the driving position good...

How many crossed shopped the GT4?

I sold my 2 year old GT4 718 last week for a small premium over rsp. It was a brilliant car in many ways. Analogue with a naturally aspirated engine and manual short-throw box and easy clutch. It engaged you as you kept it in the torque band and it snorted at high revs. Fabulous torque engine...

The reviewers are comparing cars at list price, not cars at prices subject to market dynamics. So I don't quite understand your beef. But I live in the UK where we have a choice.......order a car and wait for delivery or, if impatient and have the cash, pay a bribe over the sale price to get...

    Emira (wide)shut line Discussion

For those who have spent time around auto manufacturing and implementing continuous improvement manufacturing and been in the new Lotus facility, it is clear there is a determination to achieve build integrity. That is a great way to start. However, largely, its new people, new tooling, and a...

    Emira (wide)shut line Discussion

I wonder if some early adopters are unrealistic about expectations.......wanting perfection. Start ups take time to settle down, some take years and some never settle, Mclaren and TVR come to mind. The real issue for me is *will Lotus support unforseen issues?* If the answere is NO then don't...

Last Minute Auto Wobble…Is i4 the right choice?

In what way is it brilliant? I've ordered auto but worry that it will have excessive lag. I've had dct and slush in all car types . A good slush box is both smooth and quick changing, a bad one suffers nodding dog syndrome.......a good dct is seamlessly quick, a bad one hesitates which way to...

    Emira (wide)shut line Discussion

The bonnet shut line is a classic new car issue.....generally it's caused by the pu fender not moulding to correct sizes....it takes hit and miss mould tooling adjustments....eventually leading to improvement. Don't hold your breath but the late adopters will sleep happy!

oh FFS !! (v6 vs i4 debate in my head)

I test drove the Alpine DCT, the highest power model. It is a light and compact car. Agile and responsive. But it was ho hum because I yearned for a six noise, creamy power and mid range drive. I didn't buy one......I ordered the Emira V6. Then BMW gave me a turbo 4 and it went like the...

Can any one explain what it is about the front suspension that contributes to the ride quality on the Emira? Autocar claim nothing rides and handles better than the Evora 400/410 bhp models. I have a vague memory that there is a video of Hethel employees explaining the arrangement. My guess...
