Delivery/destination fee was always going to be charged. It may be a bit higher but it’s also low volume so it’s costing them more than being able leverage volume cost reduction there.

With the cost increases on the FE2. My guess is that they almost have very slim margin on FE1. Have they said that the price is still locked on the I4? I’d be more concerned with that if it’s not in writing than the delivery fee.
Yes, delivery fee is always charged but $2300 is excessive. Also, the car was shown in 2021 and now we are getting a 2025 vehicle. At that point most manufacturers are starting their LCI. Are we getting the ADAS now? Are we getting the 400hp the China is getting? All I have now is a locked in build, a deposit that’s 3 years old, and my only hope is that interest rates will fall by 2025.

Saw these posted on facebook supposedly headed towards Mexico — port of Veracruz.

The measures they employ to protect a $100k vehicle is insane! I mean, all that vinyl tape! No possible way for dents or scratches!
Yep, stark contrast to the satellite photos of the McLarens we were speculating on.

Another reason why I'm not looking forward to the journey of them getting into the U.S. and sitting around for up to 2 months (hopefully less, hopefully not more than 2 😅).

That grey is one of the FE2 colors?
Guess that means the shipment is comingled 1.0s/2.0s? Going to get interesting here if the 2.0 crowd (includes me) gets their vehicle before the earliest deposit holders.

We are starting to get cars! 500! I feel like celebrating 🥳. More importantly the indefinite waiting is over. We have a definitive timeframe… Congratulations to the lucky 🍀 500!! & manual driver’s.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year! 🎊
We’ll see! I have more confidence in Lotus ability to build a great car vs. filing proper paperwork for NA, that hard part isn’t done yet 🙏.

These either aren't cars coming with the intial NA FE customer cars, or there are some dealer demos in 2.0 colors...

This is a photo of cars heading to Mexico. It indicates nothing about the cars coming to the US. Given the number of cars, I would be really surprised if any FE 2.0 cars are included among these initial batches totaling 500.

My Sales Rep at Lotus Naples told me on Nov 6 that the delivery fee was included in the MSRP and not an add on.

It wouldn't be the first time that a car salesman showed that he knew nothing about the product he was selling and was generally ignorant about the car industry in general. I am not aware of any car where the freight isn't additional to the MSRP.

My paperwork says otherwise.

"MSRP (less destination and applicable taxes) $95830"

Unless destination isn't delivery fees?

I'll bet you didn't get that in writing.

Also re: shipping protection, it looks like Lotus completely misinterpreted the whole "add lightness" thing.

Silver lining there is maybe if the car is going to develop bubbles in the door panels, they'll have shown up by delivery time and you can reject the car, rather than trying to fight with Lotus warranty service once you've taken it home.

I believe the DF on a McLaren is currently around $3300-$3500 so I'm thinking $2300 for Lotus isn't too out of line when comparing low volume UK manufacturers to the USA and their respective price points. Believe me..... I'd love to find fault in this as the whole Emira shitshow has been nothing but the proverbial clusterfuck (and its FAR from over) but I don't really have a problem with the amount of their DF.

Might be slightly off topic but with everything going on with Emira delays and any questions about Lotus future. My dealership got an Eletre R on the weekend and I took it for a test drive yesterday. Best SUV available today, and it’s not even close - the car has and can do everything. There is nothing I can nit pick about the car other than my annoyance that they won’T let you opt for the upgraded front seats while keeping the rear folding seats. Anyways, I’m not going to write an Eletre review here but this does give me confidence that Lotus will be quite successful and should have an expanded dealer network once they get all these issues sorted as their EVs should gain a lot of attention and desire.

Agree. It's expensive to transport a car across the country right now, much less to ship it overseas. And I get that Lotus gets some volume discount, but this price isn't that far out of line with already being discounted.
