Anyone know if this is true. I was just told one of the latest updates downgrades the power because it was too high or in his words "too fast". Is there any way people can see the list of software updates and what they do online? I hope this isn't actually true but it was a tech that does the uploads that said this. Mmm

That's not too bad until you realize none of the updates are performed by your local Lotus engineer, but all done remotely by Lotus Hethel. So how do you expect your local dealers have any information?
Well he sure seemed like he had a lot to say. These are done by the service center. They have the computers to do it

[Can't void what you don't see. ]

Well - modern cars log a lot of data (memory is cheap) imagine boost is ore of the logged data points. If you blow a cylinder head gasket and cars logs show you were running 36 psi of boost vs 30 psi there may be some push back on the warranty claim. Manufactures are very aware of piggy back systems upping boost....

No the sensors information that would be data log is manipulated. The logging will not show these numbers showing the extra boost

It will show, there are tons of way to find out. They won't bother if it is a small clam, but if you blow your engine, you bet they will. Don't just listen to what the vendors told you, it is a fact no matter if you do ecu flash, Cobb, or any piggyback, manufacturer will be able to pull data to support that.

Thanks! How do you like the overall added performance? Did you do the install yourself?
I kind of screwed myself as I never got to drive the car fully during the breakin so I don't know what the stock version feels like at full rpm's. I then just hit 1000 and installed the TDI. So there is no way for me to know the "difference" lol. I guess what i can do is run the car now with the TDI set at stock and see how it compares with it on mode 7. However, it's in the shop getting PPF so that's another week away. I may have to get a draggy too

I did do the install myself which i addressed in a few posts higher up

Is there no way we can get the updates information. I mean each one should have an explanation of what it does. We should at min know what they are changing and why. Just to be clear there isn't just one or two. There are several and they are coming out frequently

For Ferrari and porsche, we made a thread of all known versions for each module. We didn’t always have change notes, but at least ppl could confirm whether their tech really didn’t updates they billed an hour for. Maybe we do that here too ?

I asked jokingly, did the updates add 100hp, he responded the opposite. It downgraded it because it was too "fast" which is a weird way to say power igues. Unless he meant top speed was too high. I don't know the whole thing sounds weird to me.
Thats actually not legal. They can't change the specs and reduce the power after the car has been sold. Ford lied about the SVT Cobra back in the day and ended up having to spend millions to retrofit all the sold cars with new intake, exhaust, and a tune.

You bought a car with 400hp, if that car does NOT make 400hp, then it's fraud. So software update post sale that reduces power is still consumer fraud. This is your average dealer service/parts/sales guy spouting BS with no idea WTF is actually going on.

The issue was they were making more than 400hp not less
