The inevitable faster Emira

It's pretty easy to tell that they will most likely NOT increase the HP for the V6 variant.. it won't pass CARB.. I also would not by an Emira R unless it's a V6 manual, which I HIGHLY doubt.

Now what I WOULD buy in ANY variant is a convertible / targa version.. You can have my money right now even if I have to wait 4 years.

I assume you refer to US only?

CARB means nothing to the rest of the world, so no reason why Lotus wouldn’t offer a hotter final edition V6 to the markets that would take it, at a ridiculous premium of course…

Why not buy a used McLaren?
My reasoning is that I have wanted a Lotus since I am 6 years old.. It was never about having an expensive or exotic car.. it was about owning a Lotus..

I've saved a portion of every paycheck I have made since I am 16 years old to have a Lotus one day.. I almost bought the Elise, but the housing market caused me to lose my house and almost everything, but i never touched the money in that Lotus account.. but I couldn't justify being homeless driving a Lotus.. :) so I waited.. and glad I did..

I know "made" it and can look back and know I accomplished my older dream.

Totally agree on this. Wow. Take my money, I will order it too.

Who could actually take up a project to realise this mod?
I have read almost every thread on this forum and the consensus is it would be a HUGE undertaking and cost more than the car itself to do after reading a ton of other threads..

I'm not rich or wealthy by any means, but I would pay $20,000 to turn it into a convertible, but probably not much more than that..

Yes sorry.. I am talking about the US market.. I already dislike that the rest of the world get the awesome cars like hot hatches and man I would kill for some of the cars over across the pond.

Well, the V6 rumour was made up and it is still peddled. I was at the factory two weeks ago and saw them being built.

I’m not going to reveal my source and you don’t have to believe me that’s fine.

But if you could do me the courtesy of acknowledging when it is announced in the next 2/3 months that I was correct.

I’m not saying there won’t be more V6 variants, I don’t have information on that. But I do know there is an Emira R based on the 4 cylinder.

I didn’t ask for more information because I don’t care as I’d never buy a 4 cylinder.
@911toEmira Sooooooo, 4 months have passed. They have introduced the updated Emira (suspension/cooling, transmission etc). „new“ V6 SE and racing line. No Emira R whatsoever. What is your or your sources take on that?

I was at the factory in March. Saw the purple and green cars in the finishing bay. To be be fair there may well have been plans for an Emira R that were torpedoed around the time the Hethel closure was leaked. Given the future looks cloudy- at best- it’s perhaps unsurprising they aren’t putting development money into anything new.
At £100k list in the UK who is likely buying one now?
I LOVE mine but I’m more than a little concerned about the future. The failure to offer a Porsche style extended warranty is another looming concern

I commented on another thread on a extended warranty, Lotus have worked with Car Care Plan to provide an extension on used cars purchased from Lotus dealers that are running out of original warranty. They are also working on an extension for existing owners. Info from dealer and CS.
