Iā€™ve placed a deposit on a 2nd car.

If orders are already into 2024, and Lotus stops making the V6 in 2025, that means the last-ever manual Lotus will likely sell out at some point this year.

If Lotus announces a hotter or final V6 car, I want it. If I can sell my first edition down the line for some sort of premium because the V6 has sold out, I will absolutely do that and roll it into the 2nd one.

Otherwise, Iā€™ll keep my first edition forever.

I would assume the first 3 years of servicing is free?

Doesn't sound like something Lotus would offer, but we'll see... Most manufactures have increased their bumper-to-bumper full coverage warranty from 3 yrs 30k to 5-7 years. Hyundai started the trend (at least here in the states) of offering 10 year full warranty with all new vehicles. Now all the other major manufacturers have been trying to keep up.

It would be great if Lotus offered the first couple oil changes for "free" and had a decent warranty (especially since this is a new car from a new factory and built by mostly new workers). I'm not holding my breath though.

A private sale shouldn't be difficult. The car will have delivery mileage, will have had PDI inspection by Lotus, and will still have the majority of the warranty. It'll just already have one registered owner.

Bear in mind the running-in procedure includes an oil change and ECU download at around 1000 miles. The ECU info is used to check you haven't abused it during running in. So if you sell before that 1000 mile service, a potential purchaser may want an ECU printout. You may want one too, in case the new owner hammers it then gets a telling off at 1000 miles and tries to blame you.
When I got my read out re the gear change revs etc during run in, I am sure it put the dates and times also .... so should be covered on the 2nd point. I think I still have the 14 page document :).

I pay 20 pounds a month for servicing on my GR Yaris. That's a 6 month inspection and 12 month service annually. It also comes with a 10 year warranty which is bonkers šŸ˜… Got to love Toyota ā¤ļø

Fair enough thank you, @donskibeat last time I bought brand new I didn't pay for first 3 years of servicing (y)
I think Lotus are probably missing a trick not offering a decent service package for new car customers, as well as a decent warranty.
Would go a long way to help dispel those nasty whispers about reliability etc....

Of coarse but you will pay for this as an additional option with your dealer or part of a leasing plan (through the leasing viper network???), I don't think most here will be doing this. Im sticking with Lotus on financing and I'm sure they will be offering insurance as well so we can drive from the outset when we get the call. I want everything bullet proof direct with Lotus and simple drop off to my Pub?? (sorry meant house). They are not stupid, they know that as "first edition" and we want something special.

Fair enough. Don't think I have ever got "free" servicing with any new car I have purchased, and certainly wouldn't expect to get it from Lotus, been hard enough work just getting up-to-date information out of them let along anything else! Especially now with this new method of cutting out the dealer etc I doubt they will offer anything for free, as the dealer needs to be able to make money somehow, and servicing / aftercare is about the only thing they have left.

Do lotus include this 1000 oil change in the price? I assume not so do you know how much it cost?
It's not included, but it won't be expensive. Not sure of the exact price but the basic annual service on an Evora is Ā£280 fixed price.

I don't know if they're going to do a servicing bundle to cover the first 3 years, but the fixed price service schedule is a good alternative. You know how much each service is going to cost and can budget accordingly. The pricing is now more competitive than it was say 5 years ago. Lotus-specialist indies will be slightly cheaper, but not much.

Wow cheap as chips šŸŸ happy days Iā€™ll be well happy with that circa price - they may choose to hike everything šŸ†™ the way everything is at the moment in these crazy times

Why do I keep obsessing on that clunk clunk gear box
Just so you know.. my Exige s2 has a gearshift very similar - it has a very positive shift and isn't rubbery like some car's - you feel it go into gear - its a Lotus 'trait'. Its just that most people are not used to it, so find it a bit strange at first... In my Exige, I love it

Ha. Well, I expect mine to reach the 600 mile running in on my trip to the 'ring.
I will be pootling it around so hopefully that will not count as abuse.
I will do the 1000 mile thing immediately on my return as it will be almost spot on that.

Though I am mostly hoping that we at least get out cars for the Isle of Man trip, Tom!

If you look at Shmee's review video, the gears go go into gear with some noticeable indents in its travel. It also looks like you have to shift it with some authority. Meanwhile, the dude from EVO was probably looking for something more like this:

Itā€™s with a sad heart that Iā€™m going to have to give up on my dream of the Emira, for now anyway! I will be on here reading the comments ,as always , as most are educational, some are funny and a few are just plain crazy šŸ˜œ. I would like to wish everyone all the best with their future purchase of what will be an awesome car ( magma forever) and a real head turner. Iā€™m going to be well annoyed when I see one in the wild but maybe in a couple of years I will be in a better position to get one on my drive.
My final questions are- do I buy and flip, do I sell my place or do I just get my deposit back?
Hello Daz,
I am in the same boat as you. Unfortunately I planned to have the Emira in Spring as first planned. Circumstances beyond my control has pushed me to make the decision to sell the car. I also have a Magma red car. I hope its not jinxed! If anyone is interested please get in contact. An early car, build slot July for August delivery. Well so they say....

Iā€™m keeping fingers crossed on that.

People really need an update on their delivery date so they can plan for the trip. The trip balance is due for payment in mid July. Iā€™ll be trying to find out more at Goodwood then we can take a view.

I reckon Emira servicing will be more ā€œpremiumā€ than the Evoraā€¦special oil anā€™ all that! ;)
