Lotus vs Noble Top Gear video

We are an odd country. These same people likely speak with great reverence about German cars that mainly function as airport taxis in their country of origin.

The Germans make some cool cars, certainly. In America there’s a mystique around “German quality and engineering”.

However, the Germans also make cars that have unacceptable maintenance schedules and cost, with notoriously abysmal reliability.

There’s a reason top shelf 7-series and S-Class's depreciate by 75%+ in less than 10 years. Nobody can afford to service them, and the experience of ownership just doesn’t justify the long term cost!

That was honestly the most negative review of the Emira I have seen to date. I didn't care much for either presenter as well, as they were both complaining about both cars right from the start. Not entertaining, not funny., just negativity toward both cars. I bailed about 20 minutes in.

Odd review. They kept driving the point at one of the downsides of the emira being its price and how it isn't worth the money...yet here they are comparing it to a car that costs twice as much. They acknowledged that it wasn't a fair comparison, but it is exactly what they were doing. Then, they went on about how there are soooo many other comparable cars you can get at the same price point....90% of people buying the emira want a manual exotic looking sports car. Unfortunately, the emira and GT4 are pretty much it. And news flash, cars are pretty expensive now.

If you throw out the manual trans requirements and don't care how it looks...yes there are other options. But in order for a car to be the most engaging on the road, it needs to be fun to drive slow. Which in my eyes, means manual, good sound, and good looking. Can't think of many other cars that do that for 100k.
Exactly correct. I could have bought anything and I picked an Emira because it has a manual, looks great, and is super fun on the street. I also didn’t want a GT4 or GTS that tops out near 90mph in 2nd gear, because that’s just no fun. And you’re right, the Emira is fun pulling out of my driveway. That’s a tough trick to pull off.

They opened by stating that nobody had bought either car. Pretty sure there's hardly any Nobles about - and whilst the sales figures for the Emira aren't as they hoped, due to many factors - there is also not 'none' on the road.

In my opinion - it's the Noble that would have disappointed me if I'd just spent £180k on it.

Agreed! For that kind of money it better be dynamically perfect and engaging beyond anything else under $250k.

Very strange negative review. Complained that it wasn't fun on the track, but left the traction control on? Steering feel was bad? Half the review was a rant about the price? What a waste of time... sad to see Top Gear fall so far.

They complain about the Lotus price, but you can still buy a new 2024 FE at below the 2024 MSRP.

Agreed the i4 would have been much quicker on the track. The 0-60 alone would have made the lap times equal.

It's a reflection on many new videos on anything, the more videos there are the lower the quality.
