Some parts are true while others are not. They offer a new base model for a lower entry price but like a Porsche you rarely get one without any option. Comparing this very base model to the flagship R+ probably is somewhere 40 - 50 percent off, but they are two different cars basically. Also, most of the unofficial discounted cars are old stocks as old as 300 days. They are really trying to clear stock that's for sure.
 
I've China has started Emira I4 manufacture from someone at a Lotus franchisee. Can anyone else confirm or refute this?

I'd venture to say the Chinese made Emira's would be higher quality.

Per the agreement, all sport cars are made at Hethel.
 
The common theme on here years ago was that Lotus was going to build and sell tens of thousands of Emiras per year. It was a pipe dream then and it's even more so now.

The niche market for cars like this is nowhere near as big as that. Emira saturation hit it's peak long ago. Like my 4C, once the 'crazies' bought theirs, the market dried up, fast.

I've seen 2 Emiras here in Vegas and they are show stoppers for sure. GORGEOUS. I loved all 3 of my test drives. It's definitely an amazing car.

It feels like Lotus just makes bad/untimely decisions. The Eletre? Please. Too late and the price is insane. Maybe some youtubers will buy one, but...

Seems to me that most manufacturers moving towards the EV market progress towards tanking. Maybe we are not ready for it yet?
We are at the peak of development of the ICE engines cars. Just look at the small cylinders cars and the tech use to extract power out of them and the low emissions emitted. Seems a bit silly to bin it all at this stage for something that requires a power point to crank up..which requires quite a bit of carbon to produce.

My personal view is that the legislation (in the UK and EU anyway) is classic government overreach. It’s a significant and very poorly thought out intervention with unintended consequences, and won’t succeed as per the “mission statement”.

That’s not to say EVs aren’t here to stay; they are as they make sense for some people. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the ban on new ICE vehicles steadily relaxed and eventually dropped altogether.

All of this is causing and will continue to cause chaos in the automotive industry and to an extent the wider economy; again it’s classic government overreach and they should (but clearly don’t) know better.

Completely agree. EVs have proven a viable product but outlawing ICE cars like they are trying to do in California is nonsense.

If people or governments were really concerned with climate change or better titled- gross pollution (because the climate naturally changes on its own - used to be called global warming, but that doesn’t account for cooling)- they would target the main sources such as heavy manufacturing, commercial transport, waste mgmt and agriculture AND insist on a global solution. Instead you have politicians virtue signaling and capitalists looking to make a buck. Its pretty annoying that many don’t understand this.
