Lotus halt all delivery to the US.

I am glad I purchased my 2025 Emira V6 Manual from current stock at Manhattan Motorcars. It was nearly my exact spec I had ordered at the end of February 2025. That being said, I cannot say enough about the professionalism of New Jersey Lotus returning my $5,000 deposit without any issue. They were understanding of the situation, and made no attempt to hold my deposit. Peter was very helpful and he has my respect and appreciation in how he handled the situation.

Wouldn't you want the car you specified even if cost a bit more? Once they sign and seal the 10% deal. the net difference is going to be 7.5% increase on the invoice to dealer amount (probably ~$80K) so around $6K. I think that between Lotus and the dealer, they will absorb part of that so the net difference will hopefully be under $4K.
Yes, I would like the car I spec’d, but if they haven’t produced it and have no intention of producing it, what am I supposed to do?

I wish Lotus would stop being so cryptic. My dealer advises an “announcement” forthcoming. We’ll see.

So far my dealer is refusing to refund my deposit, so it’s not like a have a choice except waiting and seeing.

Are they even legally allowed to keep your deposit if they cannot deliver you a car?

Depends on what the verbiage is in the contract. Most likely as long as the dealership is trying to do all they can to get the car...then no refund...unless they want to play nice.

Lotus New Jersey didn’t giver me any resistance in returning my deposit. My understanding is that without a VIN # the contract is really not “valid”. I feel your pain, every dealer I am sure is handling this differently, I am just thankful New Jersey Lotus did the right thing and returned my deposit without any no issue.

Do you have a V6 Base on order? Lotus did not stop production, (they may have slowed down a bit) so all V6 base that did not arrive before March 31st are either sitting at the docks or being build. Lotus is just waiting for the 10% tariff to be signed and sealed before they start shipping again. If you do not have an confirmed V6 base order then it's all up in the air as the next round of V6 base will be fore the rest of the world so who knows when and if they will have more av available for the US after that.
