key fob not working after new battery

Managed to leave my key in the boot, shut the boot and the whole car locked itself!?

Went to use the spare and nothing, so, fitted a new battery, nothing, tried another battery, still nothing?

Any ideas whats going on?

ps Used the pull out key on the passenger side slot (why is it not on the right hand side?) and got the car going and got keys out of boot.

You can open the boot whilst the rest of the car is locked - then if you close the boot that'll be locked too of course.
But I can't see how the car would lock itself if it was open when you closed the boot with the keys in.

Not sure why the new battery is not working in your spare fob. I assume you checked it is in the right way up and the battery is giving the correct voltage.

Have you ever previously tested the spare key? Maybe it never worked/wasn't programmed.

I think your right, the car was locked just the boot unlocked.
I tried 2 batteries all the right way.
That key worked previously then went flat so grabbed the other, and didn't get round to putting a new battery in until today.
