Japan - Emira Ownership (エミーラ納車とその後)

Sounds fun! I might be able to join—my Emira is currently at the dealer for its first 3-month check, so I’ll need to confirm when I can get it back.

Did you get your car back? I plan to be at 石川台 around 14:00 today.

They mentioned it should be ready sometime this weekend, so it can be either Saturday or Sunday… btw, my Emira is in 石川台 at this moment.

Met up with @Tokion at our favorite cafe.

I will try on the AD09s at a local tire shop, and maybe return to the Cup 2 LTS rubber in a year or two.

Would love to hear how they perform. Been using Yokohama tyres for years and if they prove to be viable for the Emira, would happily go back to using them again

I made this very intentional choice based on the usage of the Cup 2 LTS tires for the past year and a half that I've had the car.
Not sure if I will be able to provide the kind of feedback you are looking for. The car is for grocery runs, cruising around the city, a few 500+ km trips and maybe a total of 2 hours of track time during the expected 1 to 1.5 year life of the rubber. I will be looking for wet handling and longevity more than cornering performance and number of heat cycles.

Having said that, they should be more than OK.

Sounds like we both drive the car very similarly. Although mine will only ever see a track from the side lines.
Best my car can hope for is some spirited driving on UK country roads, which wont exactly be high speed

The air conditioner stopped working、Gas leak from the condenser. Summer will likely be over before the condenser is replaced...(T_T)

Remember the good old days when we didn't have air conditioning... Enjoy the summer !

I didn't have air conditioner either for the first 2-3 months of ownership (April to July 2024). The dealer detected the gas leak during the pre-delivery inspection.

I suppose you're going to have to drive with the windows open like I did. 😅

Quick update and findings regarding my tire purchasing experience:
  • Many (probably most) tire shops will not be able to handle the Emira in their facilities. The front lift points are so far inside towards the center of the car, that the arms of their lifts cannot reach them. Two post or four post lifts, the kind you find in maintenance shops, will reach with no problem, but most tire shops don't have them because they don't need to lift the car above a person's head to change tires. Always call and/or visit the shop beforehand to confirm they have the right equipment.
  • As for Yokohama Tire official retailer タイヤガーデン東京 their biggest 江戸川店 did not have the right lift. On their smaller lift, the rear lift points were ok, but could not reach the front lift points. They have a bigger lift with more adjustability, but the lift itself was too high for the Emira to roll onto without scraping the front lip.
  • The 代沢店 claims to have experience with an Emira (anyone here on the Emira Forum ?), so I have booked time with them Friday afternoon. Should be able to try out the AD09s over the weekend!
  • Parts and labor prices are the same across all タイヤガーデン東京 shops.

I think that my air conditioning was working at first, but it probably broke during the heavy rain in June last year. It took about 15 minutes after starting the engine for it to start working. It took about six months to repair everything. Now it works properly. It worked last week at Miura and yesterday, so it seems to be completely fixed until the next breakdown.

山口県下関市の「角島大橋」をエミーラで走りたい!本州と四国の間を行き来する橋も走りたい!季節的には5月がベストかな?夏は暑いし混むだろうし。
Bridges, bridges. I am considering doing some island hopping in the Shikoku & Chugoku areas, perhaps in the May-June time frame. Any interest or advice?

っていうか、釜山すぐそこだし頑張ればソウルだって...
Maybe a few more hops and we'll reach South Korea..

Gauging interest and exploring timing options. Hope to meet local members and folks from Kyushu as well ! Let's discuss possible time frames, hopefully this year...
参加希望者大募集!と同時に時期についても相談しましょう。九州からも Emira 参加の可能性あり!
