Insurance quote: 4.8x the price of my 2007 Exige S

Strange that everyone is saying progressive is the cheapest out of the big insurance companies, I added the emira to my insurance with my current model 3 performance and they want 2700 every 6 months versus State Farm quoting me 1800 and with lower deductible. It seems to pay to shop around periodically
There are various factors that are considered for each policy holder AND THEN there's also your location that seems to make a very big impact. This is likely why we see such a big delta between those reported.

To add, I've had preminums change significantly after underwriting changes the way they eval things. So it's also best to do an audit once in awhile. I was a loyal State Farm policy holder, but the last few years they've been significantly raising rates very year while I've made NO claims in the last 20 years (essentially I'm paying for others claims......)

In summary, it's best to shop ALL the insurance companies and evaluate which one fits best for you (terms, conditions, pricing).

And they just said they won't cover my car. They just straight up won't insure a Lotus Evora. When I asked why and told her I had friends with their Emira insured through Progressive, she said something about it having to be +/- 2 years old.. Wtf?

Bumping this thread with an update on my end... I'm currently paying $1907/yr with State Farm for my Evora GT with no agreed value (so market value only and this is added to my existing policy with daily drivers and home). So after Progressive said they wouldn't insure a GT, I ended up getting referred to a broker who ran some quotes for me:
  • Hagerty: $2,412/yr
  • Grundy: $1,360/yr
*both with an agreed value of $100k.
So I guess I'll give Grundy a shot to save ~$550 a year. Still seems like a lot for someone with an 840 credit score, no accidents, garage, and defensive driver cert. 😒
