How could they screw up a key fob so bad?

What are people using to attach keys? I can't get any rings to work. How could Lotus screw up a key fob this bad?

Get the thing rope type, works well. Then you just push it through and loop it.

Just the one, in the box with a small screwdriver. Works well. I've had mine for over a year.

Can anyone report if the leather covers over time wear the buttons? It seems the inside portion that contacts the button is pretty firm, I worry about it getting scuffed up over time.

Just checked mine. No wear after 7,000 miles.
The buttons don't look like they would either, very glossy.
I think they would get more scratched without the cover.
For me these cases are not just for protecting the fob from scratches they are for keeping from breaking if you drop them, as they are expensive to replace.
After that a colour matched fob is good too.
