I wish we had the Lemon Law in the UK.

I have finally given up on ever getting my car back from Lotus (it’s now been almost 8 months). Matt Windle doesn’t care, he doesn’t pick up his phone, he doesn’t answer emails. Lotus Colchester are lying to Lotus customer care saying they’ve been in contact with me when they haven’t. Lotus customer care have no effect on the situation and just send holding emails (if I get a response) it looks like it’s time to go to a solicitor.

I used to walk past a Lotus Europa on my way to school and I’ve been a fan ever since. Lotus have destroyed that fan in 8 quick months.
 
Very sad commentary.

You’re frustration is certainly warranted and personally I wouldn’t have the patience you’ve shown in this matter.
 
That's sad to hear but I think you have been more than reasonable here.
I hope it does all get sorted out in the end - what a shame that your experience with what should have been a fantastic car has turned into this.
 
I must admit, that over these last few months, every time I read your updates I always think "That could have been me". We both bought from Auto100 and so far I have been pretty lucky and in comparison to you immeasurably so

Hmm isn't the Consumer Rights Act 2015 essentially the same as Lemon Laws when it comes to cars?

Maybe similar, but at the moment I’ve got Lotus telling me to deal with Auto100 (the people I bought my car off) ams Auto100 telling me to speak to Lotus as a) the car’s under warranty. b) Lotus were the previous owner. c) they just shipped it from Lotus solely for me to purchase (it was still at Lotus when I officially purchased it).

So neither are accepting liability, so it’s down to me to go legal. I think it’s Auto100 that’s liable, but of course it would be easy for Lotus to sort everything directly (they have the car at one of their dealers).
 
You've been ridiculously patient. I'd hire a lawyer, perhaps then Lotus will do something.
 
Liquidating returned cars through Auto100 was so short-sighted. I’m sure Lotus needed the money, but was it really worth the risk / damage to reputation? Many were known to be problem cars.
 
This is really disappointing to see and I feel bad for you. I've actually had some really positive interactions with Matt Windle and the factory so it sucks to see others who are experiencing the opposite. I hope you have a satisfactory conclusion. I can see how this would drive you to a competitor and that's a real shame.
