Can the Emira get door dings from shopping carts and closely parked cars that open their doors into yours?

Years ago my parents had a Saturn and that was a big marketing point that GM talked about in their ads.

Of course paint is paint and maybe they’re more likely to get paint damage than cars with metal doors?

Yeah. Those Saturn panels are polymer based (plastic). The Emira panels are a fancy fibreglass. They won’t pop out.

Since our doors are fiberglass, they won't ding in the traditional sense, but if the impact has enough force, it may crack or puncture the fiberglass.

Naturally the conditions in which this happens, likely wouldn't with a standard shopping cart or another car door scenario.

The edges of the fiberglass can very easily get chipped, such as the door sides or bottom. Its harder to chip/ding the flat surfaces of the panels.
It doesn't "dent" like a aluminium or steel panel but if they do get dinged or chipped you can also get "spiderweb" cracks in the gel coat that spread out over a few weeks.
At least that's my experience with the Elise.
