Massive price rise on all C8s in Australia. GM must be heavily reducing their right hand drive production.

With some dealers adding $25k for “delivery”, plus duties, final price is $200k plus. Ouch.
I called a few dealers last year about the C8 when it was announced, enquiring about pricing and availability. GM published RRPs at the time but dealers weren't selling for that. They wanted $20+K dealer markup. Their customer service involved lots of promises and no follow through. No thanks. Good luck to them!

In some countries the Corvette is seen as a competitor to the Emira. Less so in the UK, but certainly in the US, and this is a sub-forum on Lotus Emira Versus the Competition.

In Japan, the price of the V6 First Edition has changed from ¥13,530,000 to ¥14,520,000 effective April 22.
This is a price increase of 7,700 US dollars or 6,140 UK pounds.

I hope the price increase is not retrospective to those who locked in non-refundable deposits.

I'll be very surprised if we don't see a significant hike in Emira prices in the UK before the end of the year. The latest PPI input inflation rate (ie what manufacturers pay their suppliers) was an eye opening 18.6% for the year to the end of April 22, the highest since records began. If Lotus is to be profitable price rises are 100% inevitable. I'm just relieved that (hopefully) it looks like Lotus will stick to the previously communicated FE prices for at least the early production run.

There’s potential here for FE buyers to make substantial profits. While I’m not in it for that (I’m hoping this becomes my forever car), the temptation must be there for some…

Unfortunate, but not surprising. The yen has dropped 22% against the UK pound since July of last year before taking into account inflation. I suspect even with this price increase, Lotus will be accepting negative margins for quite some time.

In Japan, the exchange rate is also a major factor.

In Japan, the V6 First Edition could be ordered until May 22.

Orders placed by April 21 were priced at ¥13,530,000.
Orders placed on or after April 22nd will be priced at ¥14,520,000.

This price revision does not affect those who ordered last year.

The I4 First Edition is ¥13,860,000, so those who ordered the V6 last year are in luck.

I suspect this is the start of a new trend. Get in now before the inevitable price rises.
