Can’t connect CarPlay and Bluetooth at the same time

Anyone know how to connect both concurrently? Once I connect CarPlay the ability to connect Bluetooth gets greyed out. No longer an option. W/o Bluetooth I don’t seem to be able to use the voice commands from the steering wheel to make hands free calls.

This does not work, you can't connect to Bluetooth separately than CarPlay. Carplay uses Bluetooth. It's confusing.

Long press on the voice icon will access the CarPlay commands. Took me a while to learn that one.
