This is definitely the spec I'm looking at. Also an approval colour from the wife. Lol Yellow too. Thats really the most important thing. Lol. I just need to convince her of the manual over the i4.....
If i saw this floating around Bell-vegas I'd be floored.
I have been OCD-ing over the emira for a while. To me it seems to be the perfect balance. Minus power. I want some more out of it, but with a few bolt ons, I feel, I'll be in my happy spot.
How has maintenance costs been? My daily's have been audi for years, so I understand euro costs. Just recently switched one to a tundra, so it has been softened. - maybe.
Any of the standard issues? Hvac/ac, wind noise, steering buttons, etc that all the reviews mention?
Still super happy with it?
Why did you choose this over anything else in the price point?
I'm pretty sure my mind is set....as it's lines are beautiful.
Sounds like you put some miles on it...still keeps a smile on your face?
Buy anything recently from GRP since the tariffs hit?
I briefly talked to Paul the other day. I think it was Paul. Seemed nice. I'm probably going down the path of a low milage resale to save on lux tax, and maybe a little on cost. Near the top of my budget. Especially if I'm going to go drop another 10-15k on mods.
That's my story.
Hey there. Jason here. I'll chime in to your questions. I am just South of Belleville in Prince Edward County, home to wineries, beaches and some great driving roads. If any of you Canucks are in the area, drop me a line.
Questions.
1. For bolt ons, I have done the Eventuri and I am extremely happy with the sound and the power increase. Others put this around 12 to 15 hp. What I like best is the new found induction noises. I also have 3rd cat delete from GRP, miltek valve controller, hawk ceramic brake pads, short shifter and I am getting the gold ultradiscs from Girodisc tomorrow. The car is lowered using the GRP lowering sleeves. The combination of intake and exhaust really helps with the supercharger whine on the highway. Before the mods this could get a bit draining but it is now "swallowed up" by other, nicer sounds.
2. As far as maintenance costs - 7000km and zero issues. I keep mine in the garage on a battery tender. Never a check engine light. I changed my oil at 1500Km after break-in. I have tracked it once and it did not disappoint. I have a Porsche Taycan as a daily. Another, amazing problem free car. For me it is the best 2-car garage combo. I get the smoothness and speed of the Taycan and never have to fill up for gas, with the raw and emotional experience of the Emira. I know it is cliche but it truly is an "occassion" to drive it, every time.
3. No issues with HVAC whatsoever. I get a bit of wind noise from the drivers window. My deal said they know how to fix it but I just havent made it back there to remedy it. I put a little shin etsu grease (not sure if I am saying that right) on the rubber and it seemed to help a bit. There was a post about this. I have not changed my steering wheel buttons but they haven't bothered me much at all. I will likely do this once Greg restocks them.
4. Still happy. Yes, absolutely. It is my baby. I cant stop looking back at it once parked. I go look at it almost every night in garage. I have had several great cars including: 2 porsches, BMW M3, M6, mazda RX7, Toyota Supra but I think this is my favourite. I do love my Taycan though. The way it just swallows up the road and the instant torque of 2 electric motors. In traffic there is no hesitation. I just think where I want to be and the car is there.....instantly.
5. I was very close to buying a 718 Cayman GT4 instead of this. I drove the GT4 and was a bit underwhelmed. The car was very capable but I really didnt like the tall gearing and the car was a little generic looking in comparsion. Still a gorgeous car but it was just missing something for me.
Hope this helps. If you are in the area I would be happy to show you the car and take you for a drive.
