What's going on??

First post on here, and currently just creeping. Aiming to pick up a 2024 v6 6spd and was curious if anyone in east gta/durham area has one of these bad boys? 2 reasons...saves me from going to DT to take a look at one( if your willing to have me..lol) and some one to pick their brain a little. Second is to find out If I'd be the only one in the east end with one of these sexy beasts..

Cheers

Paul at at Gentry is great to deal with, if you do decide to go.
There are not a lot of Emira around. But I bet there are a few of your way.
What brain picking questions do you have?

I am in Belleville Ontario....about an hour and a half from Durham. I have a 2024 Seneca Blue V6 Manual. I have owned it for over a year, have 7000kms and have done several of the popular mods and some of the not so popular ones, lol. I have even taken it out to Shannonville racetrack East of me.
I too have dealt with Paul at Gentry Lane and we have become good friends. I purchased my car through him. I was even invited to the Yorkdale Exotic Car show this Father's day. There were a bunch of us with different specs. It was a great day.
Emira - blue rims.webp

So 'Durham' in Canada, not the original in England? 🤣

This is definitely the spec I'm looking at. Also an approval colour from the wife. Lol Yellow too. Thats really the most important thing. Lol. I just need to convince her of the manual over the i4.....

If i saw this floating around Bell-vegas I'd be floored.

I have been OCD-ing over the emira for a while. To me it seems to be the perfect balance. Minus power. I want some more out of it, but with a few bolt ons, I feel, I'll be in my happy spot.

How has maintenance costs been? My daily's have been audi for years, so I understand euro costs. Just recently switched one to a tundra, so it has been softened. - maybe.

Any of the standard issues? Hvac/ac, wind noise, steering buttons, etc that all the reviews mention?

Still super happy with it?

Why did you choose this over anything else in the price point?

I'm pretty sure my mind is set....as it's lines are beautiful.

Sounds like you put some miles on it...still keeps a smile on your face?

Buy anything recently from GRP since the tariffs hit?

I briefly talked to Paul the other day. I think it was Paul. Seemed nice. I'm probably going down the path of a low milage resale to save on lux tax, and maybe a little on cost. Near the top of my budget. Especially if I'm going to go drop another 10-15k on mods.

That's my story.

Good to know. I talked to him briefly the other day. Threw my questions in the post above.

Welcome to the Forum and good luck finding someone local to talk to and good luck buying your Emira.

"Emira issues:" there are plenty of Forum postings easily found by searching "problems" but below is one I think quite informative:

Keep in mind that the issues are amplified somewhat, like they are on any Forum dedicated to a specific vehicle, which attracts unhappy owners who post about their problems. That's not to diminish those problems, but I've belonged to other car Forums and if you unduly focus on all the complaints and think each of them will happen to your vehicle, you'd likely never buy one.

Maintenance costs: reasonable IMO and moreso if you're a DIY person. The V6 Toyota Corolla engine helps reduce costs, since you're able to (for example) purchase Toyota OEM oil filters and can choose from several reasonably priced synthetic oils. That applies to many other Toyota engine components. You may save on maintenance costs by avoiding a dealer and finding a shop familiar with British cars and Lotus in particular.

Modifications: the Forum is great for ideas and in many cases, provides invaluable advice for DIY people, both about what to buy and how to do the mods.

GRP: sadly, I've put any further purchases from GRP "on pause" due to tariffs. The ship and foreign exchange is bad enough, but the tariffs were the last straw. Contact Greg at GRP (the owner) if you're looking for up-to-date details on what happens at the border with Canadian orders. He's very approachable/helpful/responsive.

I've had my V6 manual transmission Emira for over 15 months and with over 12,000 problem-free km now (daily driver, except winter) I ++ enjoy getting behind the wheel each time. Even driving to/from work, is "a fun occasion" which I look forward to, as part of my day. Tracking it brings the "fun factor" to a whole new level. Finally, consider shopping around if you don't mind sleuthing and potentially paying for ship. You may save some dough that way, especially with winter around the corner when some owners will be trading in their Emiras, if you don't mind waiting another month or so. Hope this helps out.

No way. I'm often out that way for drives along the escarpment.
I take 32 in Flesherton, to 30, down to 13, over to 119 back into town.
Some nice driving roads out that way - Mansfield, Creemore area. I drove through Flesherton yesterday.

I'm at 4,000KM and apart from some minor hiccups from arrival my car has been very good as well. Always started, never had a CEL light on. The guys at Gentry are excellent. Can't say the same for the other GTA dealer. It really is a great driver's car and can honestly say I do not regret it.

Answers to questions;

1. AC/HVAC always works well not problem
2. Wind noise at highway can be a little higher than others, but nothing unbearable
3. After doing @kitkat 's manual shifter adjustment - I really enjoy its manual transmission
4. This is by far the best looking car in its price point and manual. What else would I want?
5. The more you drive it, the better it gets.

Hope that helps.

Awesome thanks so much for the info everyone! Online reviews are great and all, but it's so hard to tell who's paid for what promo these days.

My decision has been next to made but I really just want to confirm it lol

Hey there. Jason here. I'll chime in to your questions. I am just South of Belleville in Prince Edward County, home to wineries, beaches and some great driving roads. If any of you Canucks are in the area, drop me a line.
Questions.
1. For bolt ons, I have done the Eventuri and I am extremely happy with the sound and the power increase. Others put this around 12 to 15 hp. What I like best is the new found induction noises. I also have 3rd cat delete from GRP, miltek valve controller, hawk ceramic brake pads, short shifter and I am getting the gold ultradiscs from Girodisc tomorrow. The car is lowered using the GRP lowering sleeves. The combination of intake and exhaust really helps with the supercharger whine on the highway. Before the mods this could get a bit draining but it is now "swallowed up" by other, nicer sounds.
2. As far as maintenance costs - 7000km and zero issues. I keep mine in the garage on a battery tender. Never a check engine light. I changed my oil at 1500Km after break-in. I have tracked it once and it did not disappoint. I have a Porsche Taycan as a daily. Another, amazing problem free car. For me it is the best 2-car garage combo. I get the smoothness and speed of the Taycan and never have to fill up for gas, with the raw and emotional experience of the Emira. I know it is cliche but it truly is an "occassion" to drive it, every time.
3. No issues with HVAC whatsoever. I get a bit of wind noise from the drivers window. My deal said they know how to fix it but I just havent made it back there to remedy it. I put a little shin etsu grease (not sure if I am saying that right) on the rubber and it seemed to help a bit. There was a post about this. I have not changed my steering wheel buttons but they haven't bothered me much at all. I will likely do this once Greg restocks them.
4. Still happy. Yes, absolutely. It is my baby. I cant stop looking back at it once parked. I go look at it almost every night in garage. I have had several great cars including: 2 porsches, BMW M3, M6, mazda RX7, Toyota Supra but I think this is my favourite. I do love my Taycan though. The way it just swallows up the road and the instant torque of 2 electric motors. In traffic there is no hesitation. I just think where I want to be and the car is there.....instantly.
5. I was very close to buying a 718 Cayman GT4 instead of this. I drove the GT4 and was a bit underwhelmed. The car was very capable but I really didnt like the tall gearing and the car was a little generic looking in comparsion. Still a gorgeous car but it was just missing something for me.
Hope this helps. If you are in the area I would be happy to show you the car and take you for a drive.
Jason

I got a hefty FED EX bill today for those rotors I just ordered. Just over $400CAD and the price of them were $2800USD. I imagine some of that is weight (80lbs total) but some could be tariffs. I recently received titanium wheel bolts from GRP but it did not seem bad at all coming over the border.
