Has anyone else had this issue? Started out of the blue a few days ago and now I can't lock the car without the alarm going off about 30 seconds later. It will even continue to sound if I start the engine and move the car. Can't take it anywhere now because I'd have to leave it unlocked which would void my insurance if it was nicked. All doors and boot shut properly and have tried deactivating internal monitoring and locking the car with a double button press. My local dealer in Bradford can't fit me un until February so I'm essentially paying for a car I can't take anywhere. This is the final straw for me. I've actioned handing the car back. One year in and i've had nothing but issues with this car. It's both the nicest and worst car I've ever owned and I have no idea what to get now.

Yeah that sounds awful... you can always lock the car at the dealer and let them solve the problem once the 100th alarm goes off :devilish:

In all seriousness here is my two cents:
  1. Verify battery charge or change battery; does your car alarm sound when the battery is connected to the tender?
  2. Faulty sensor of the booth/door could trigger the alarm, maybe if the car is pretty dusty.
  3. I think that faulty sensor or alarm can be detected with a Full system scanner (not your regular cheap OBD)... Maybe one could help.. Maybe borrow one from your local Mechanic.
  4. Maybe changing your keyfob battery could help?
  5. Final step would be to, until February, keep you second spare key in the arm rest where it can automatically disable the alarm... In the worse case, the alarm beeps once before being shut by the key.
Hope it helps and I welcome other to suggest some tips!

I would love the menacing feeling of locking the car at the dealership, sitting across the road with a coffee and just watching chaos ensue haha. So the battery is fine, I have a trickle charger and charged it fully and still having the issue. Car is clean as whistle so I doubt it's dust. Keyfob battery is also new, would that really help changing? How would it? And having the spare key in the arm rest would allow the car to lock but stop the alarm?
