I want to share my experience with Aerie Performance for anyone considering purchasing carbon fiber parts for their Lotus Emira.
I placed multiple orders in March 2026 for carbon fiber parts intended to complete my Emira build. After the parts arrived, I encountered fitment problems, including a significant gap between a vent and the OEM bodywork. I also reported that other parts did not fit properly and that a rear bumper piece lacked attachment points for the OEM components.
In July, Aerie acknowledged in writing that the vent fitment was unacceptable and attributed the problem to a degraded mold. They offered to produce a replacement. After I reported additional fitment issues, I requested to return the parts and obtain a refund.
The situation then became a prolonged effort to resolve the outstanding issues. Aerie subsequently committed to a 50% refund across my orders, subject to resolving the payment disputes, while also promising replacement parts. I repeatedly followed up for a clear timeline and status updates.
The latest update is that, on October 17, Aerie emailed me stating that all three chargebacks were finished and that they would refund the cost the following week. I replied to acknowledge the message, but I continued to request updates on the replacement parts on October 17, 19, and 20.
On October 20, I mentioned receiving a UPS shipping notification that appeared to be from Aerie and asked whether the replacement parts were ready to ship (this is actually a shipment from Vinyl Frog, so false hopes that they were keeping their commitments). I also asked why my emails were not being answered. The correspondence available to me does not yet establish whether the replacement parts were actually shipped or whether the promised refund was completed.
I would have preferred to resolve this directly and share a positive experience with the finished build. I gave Aerie repeated opportunities to address the fitment problems, issue the 50% refund, and provide the outstanding parts before deciding to share the correspondence publicly.
I've published the email history and supporting screenshots so other owners can review the actual communications and timeline themselves rather than relying solely on my summary.
Full correspondence and supporting evidence
Web site with Email Correspondence
Fully searchable. E.g. '50%" will show the three emails in which they offered a refund that they have failed to deliver
I'm sharing my experience so prospective buyers can make an informed decision. I encourage anyone considering an order to review the documentation and conduct their own research.
