2 Windshields in 1 Week

I thought about windscreen PPF. But then I have windscreen cover with my car insurance with an excess of £150. If I had PPF I would need to cover than myself as it would not be covered under the windscreen cover but would be under the main car insurance and a much higher excess.

Stopped by a good tint shop in my area. They use XPEL's windshield specific film. Install quote $600. Anyone have experience with this particular product?

I paid $400 for XPEL on the windshield and happy with it

I've had the Xpel windscreen ppf on for about a year now. Was £500 to install.

Would definitely recommend! There's a few light scratches from the wipers but it's taken at least one hit that would have chipped or cracked the screen

I had to claim for a screen on a previous car.. even though I didn't lose any no claims it put my next few years policies up by a fair bit They always get their money back one way or another.

I paid $700 for the Xpel windshield film when I ppf'd the entire car on delivery. Worth it for the extra piece of mind IMO. I can tell it is there but does not bother me when driving.

Also have windshield PPF around $600-$700 mark. Never use my windshield wipers (I should probably empty my wiper fluid to add lightness!)

My last car windshield was completely pitted. So it was worth it to me just to keep the windshield pristine, let alone protecting from cracks.

I have some thicker windshield PPF, and they absolutely will still crack even with the PPF on there. I gain a new crack every couple track days with the PPF on, I'm sure it would be worse without PPF.

All of this just depends on how much time you spend behind other cars with sticky tires on track or on twisty group rides.

This is exactly what I was wondering. Does PPF prevent and eliminate the issue? The answer is no. Like everything else on the road it’s only percentages of additional protection of the risk. I carry a low deductible and that’s how I deal with it.

For me the value isn't protection from cracks, it's actually the pitting from pebbles. My windshields just look really pitted after a few years.

It also depends where you live. For example I live in Florida and by law they cannot charge you a deductible nor can they drop you for multiple claims. It is hard to justify to some degree paying $600 while the insurance provides replacements for free. I would check to see the insurance that you have full comprehensive and what state you are and what those laws are cuz they do vary.

Had mine done prior to delivery, the healing ability of the XPEL film is amazing and the pitting on the windshield was one of the reasons as well as hopefully preventing chips.

Learn from my mistakes!

- Get windshield protection added to your insurance policy.
- PPF your windshield, Immediately, no matter the cost.
- Find a good installer if this happens to you.
- If all else fails, be extremely careful…..

Finding any installer at all due to the cost of the windshield was difficult, but now I’m S.O.L. This one hurts…. How can a piece of glass be so expensive?

I am currently traveling across the US and back in my Emira, WA to PA, plus a few side trips. I will most likely put 8000 miles on the car over 35 days. I had the windshield protection put on just before I started, $500 cost. I can tell you that the front bumper and the windshield take 95% of all impacts from dust, bugs and stones. Good idea to protect both parts.

I can’t blame your cup2’s after I personally violated the second one . It’s just bad luck!
